it was just like any other day for a nine year old hwasung. she came back from school that day late in the noon.
she stood infront of her house door and stare at the door knob for some time.
the barking from her neighbor's dog snapped her out. she pouted a little and blew her bangs out of her eyes. then put down her small school bag from her shoulders and start looking for the keys in her bag.
her small hand keep looking for it until it reaches the buttom of her bag and touches something cold. hwasung's eyes lighten up as she pulled out the keys.
little hwasung then unlocks the door and went inside. she took off her shoes and put it nicely at the side as what her parents always teaches her.
she then walked into the living room and put down her bag. after that she went to the kitchen and opened the fridge for the lunch her mom has prepared for in the morning. she took it out and put them into the microwave, clicked few buttons to turn it on and start heating her food.
hwasung then observed the food inside the microwave to kill time. her eyes keep shifting from the timer to the food and back to the timer.
it's just another normal homemade food. hwasung doesn't like to sugar coat facts. it's not like her mom's cooking is as good as a five star restaurant. she thinks they're fine, but she has had better ones. if it's talking about food, then hwasung would say her grandmother would be the best cook she knew.
a soft ding sound came from the microwave, indicating that the food is ready. hwasung carefully opened the microwave and took a cloth to protect her hand while pulling out the food from inside.
she brought the food to the table and started to set the table. she took the spoon and fork and put them by the side of the plate. then she left again to the fridge to take out a carton of milk and poured it into a glass and brought it to the table and set it near her plate.
hwasung looked at the table she set with satisfaction. she then proceed to sit down and start eating the food she had prepared.
it has always been like this. everyday when hwasung went home from school there would be no one to greet her. her parents are both busy working for her. well at least that's what they told hwasung.
hwasung felt lonely at first. she felt jealous when she saw her friends being pick up from school by their parents or grandparents at least, while she has to take the bus and went home alone.
little hwasung let out a soft sigh. but who is she to complain? there's nothing she can do except to listen to her parents well.
so she quickly finished up her food and gulp down the milk. she then proceed to wash the plate, glass and utensils she had used.
she remembers how she forgot to them before and when her mom went home, she got a whole lecture for not washing the dishes and how tired her mom is yet when she went home she still has to wash the dishes. that day, hwasung could only looked down and bit her own lips so that she won't cry while listening to her mom and keep muttering the word sorry.
