Seems like a dream

CHAPTER 6

It has been a week since Yunlan and Qing staying at the mansion. Yunlan and Xinci were doing great job ignoring each other and trying not to get on each other's nerves but couldn't help throwing snarky comments at each other given the chance but so far for the sake of Shen xi, they both ignored each other's existence. Mrs. Zhao on the other hand was very delighted spending time with her children and was thankful that her husband and son did not gave her any headache for the past week. She just wanted to spend this vacation with her family without any disputes and useless fights and so far it was going well.

One night when they all were having dinner together, yeah Shen xi absolutely did NOT threatened Xinci and Yunlan to have dinner together as a family if they knew what was good for them. So yeah, they were all having a very loving familial dinner together, NOT AT ALL awkward atmosphere when Shen xi decided to start a conversation. She cleared her throat and spoke.....

"So A-lan is there someone you like currently? At your work, among your colleagues or someone?"

Hearing this question he choked on the soup he was drinking and Qing passed him a glass of water while trying to control his laugh. Xinci pretended to act neutral but was interested to know about his sons life. After yunlan regained his composure he spoke again.....

"No Mom! I have told you before, I am busy with my thesis, so I don't get time for all this and I am not interested in anyone right now."

"Then when are you going to settle down yunlan and have your own family? You are a thirty year old idiot already who have never had any serious relationships."

"Ma! I am not that old, I m still young. And about having my own family, I have you all mom, I don't need anyone and when I will find someone whom I like, you don't think that I will tell you or make you meet that person?"

Xinci was listening all this conversation and decided to say something.

"So you don't want to take any responsibilities? Always running from them, isn't it? Never understanding your duties, sense of responsibilities, nothing! Just wasting your life. After all that's what you are good at."

The atmosphere of at the dining table suddenly became very tensed. Shen xi mentally face palmed herself for bringing up such topic. She just wanted to start a conversation so that the atmosphere won't be so awkward but instead her husband has to act like a jerk again and ruin the mood. Qing suddenly was very much liking the boiled spinach which he hated so much and was concentrating on finishing his food and yunlan's blood started boiling again after listening to his father's harsh words.

"Well It's not like you have ever appreciated my efforts old man. Never once you have said that you are proud of me or Qing. Never have You ever acknowledged my or Qing's accomplishments. So why do i have to act to according to you? And talking about responsibility I Am taking care of Qing, that's the biggest responsibility one could have."

"HEYY!" Poor Qing...

"Shut up! You call that responsibility? And what accomplishments you are talking about? Anyone can acquire some degrees and awards. Not a big deal! What have you ever done to make us proud of you?Huh?! Always wasting your time on useless things and living carelessly. Nothing else!"

Shen xi decided to intervene in between this war which has started and tried to make his son and husband calm down.

"Xinci! Don't say it like that. Our sons have made us so proud of them. They accomplished so much. And getting degrees and awards are a big deal. Every child have their own talents and abilities. Our children are also very excellent at what they do. And about responsibilities, don't they both take care of each other when they are staying away from us? They live own their own, make a living for themselves. A-lan became a professor at the age of 25, that's an accomplishment and a responsibility dear. He have the responsibility of being a good teacher to his students who are going to be the future of our country, his thesis on which he is working will be so useful for our country. Our A- Qing has become such a young talented model and designer. Isn't that and an accomplishment? Always trying to come up with best for the people and according to their taste, isn't that a responsibility and that too on deadlines, aren't these all responsibilities and accomplishments? They both have made us proud. Honey why do you have to be so furious about such trivial matters? They both have come here on holidays, let's not ruin this time together by fighting."
