"How much homework is Snape allowed to give us? It's unbelievable! And due tomorrow. This has to be against school rules. This is actual torture. Dumbledore would never allow this. How did you girls even finish before us?" whined Ron. We had just come out of potions and gone to the Great Hall which had been turned into what both the teachers and students call 'The Homework Hall'
"We care about our grades Ronald. We study and we just want to have as much free time as we can get." said Hermione. "You mean, study even more?" sneered Ron, Harry let out a small laugh. "Very funny, Harry. Professor Snape?" I said, raising my hand. "Don't you dare." said Ron. "Try me." I said, smirking. "Yes, Lady Gryffindor-Ravenclaw?" "Please just say GR or even better (l/n). My parents used to use it." "Alright, (l/n), what seems to be the issue?" "Hermione and I have finished our work." Hermione and I handed our Potions workbooks to Snape. "Satisfactory. You and Miss Granger may go. Potter and Weasley, however, it looks like you'll be spending the rest of the afternoon in here."
"Thank you Severus." I said, smiling. Hermione and I stood up. Ron sent a glare right at me. Hermione and I walked out of the Homework Hall and I could feel Ron's eyes on me the whole time. I heard a faint, "Weasley, get to work." Although, which Weasley would that have been there are four but Percy had already left and so had George, Fred was still working on Herbology.
"Hello ladies. Finally finished that work. Bloody mandrakes." Scratch that, Ron's the only Weasley left in the hall. "What was your issue with the Mandrakes anyway?" asked Hermione. "Couldn't figure out what they cure. So I just said broken bones." "Petrification." Hermione and I said in unison. "Once a Mandrake is an adult it can reverse the effects of petrification. Honestly Fred, you could've just come to us for help. Well, when Ron isn't around. We both refuse to help him with homework." I said. Both Hermione and Fred laughed.
"So what are you girls going to do until dinner?"
"I have planning to do, maybe Hermione can help?" Hermione nodded in response.
"What sort of planning?"
"It wouldn't be something you're really interested in."
"Try me."
"A ball."
Fred started fake-vomiting.
"Told you. Anyway, I take it that you haven't heard about it from your parents?"
"No.""Well, it looks like you aren't going then."
"What type of ball is it? And how come you get to plan it?"
"It's my family's ball. Rowena Ravenclaw started it all but it hasn't been held in over 10 years and apparently since I'm now at Hogwarts I'm able to host it. It's usually just Pure-bloods but Hermione and Harry are on the list."
"Look, about that, y/n. My parents are going to France and they've bought me a ticket to go and they told me the night we spoke about the ball, before Fudge approved of my name. I'm so, so, sorry. But hey, you have Harry! He's bound to stay at Hogwarts for Christmas, those Muggles sound awful!" I internally sighed. I was counting on Hermione coming so I had another girl to speak to instead of all boys.
"I'm so sorry, but maybe next year. Cheer up! I'm still going to help you with planning."
"Yeah."
