AN: Hi my lovelies!! Hope everyone is staying out of trouble for the most part and keeping safe. So I realized I haven't really described how Joseph looks yet, but I decided to describe him the first time Casanova sees him. Sound good? Alright cool! Now, let the story commence!!!!
~Chapter Five~
Joseph stared with eyes as wide as saucers. He had just knocked out a human being with a pair of clackers after he had climbed through the window. What the actual hell? There was a man from outside on the floor, unconscious. He wondered how he had found this place.
He carefully knelt down and looked at his face. He looked at Smokey with a lost expression. Smokey made little fang signs with his fingers. Joseph carefully leaned forward and lifted the man's lip. There was nothing there but normal teeth. Huh. "Guess father was wrong about that,"
He cautiously inspected the man for anything he could think of. Then he flipped him over and gasped. He was the most beautiful person he had ever seen! He had soft fluffy blonde hair, emerald green eyes, (He lifted his eyelid) small pink triangles on each cheek under his eyes, long lashes, and plush, pink, lips.
"Wow" he breathed. His heart started to beat loudly, he shook his head to clear it. He then realized what he had done. He had taken care of an intruder all by himself without getting hurt! This had to be proof for Kars that he was capable of taking care of himself! Oh crap, he had to hide this guy! After much deliberation of where to hide the very handsome man, he and Smokey decided on his wardrobe. It took a while to get the handsome man into the wardrobe seeing as he was kind of heavy and kept falling out. At one point Joseph had gotten all of him in except for his fingers which he had just squished through. He must have hit this man harder than he thought if he didn't wake up after getting his fingers mashed in the door.
After he got the man secured in the wardrobe, He went to stand in the mirror and pretend that he was bragging about it to his father. He managed to hit himself in the face with his clackers, it was then that he noticed the satchel that the beautiful man had dropped. There was something catching the light inside.
He slowly approached it and grabbed the object. It was an odd metal circle with pretty jewels on top. He found it vaguely familiar, though he had no clue where it was from or what it was. He put it on his arm and found it did nothing there. Smokey shook his head so he tried again. This time he tried using it to look through, Smokey shook his head again. Lastly Joseph slowly placed it on top of his head.
It fit almost perfectly there, it looked like it belonged there. He again got the sense of deja vû, he was just starting to think of where he could possibly have seen this when he heard Kars calling for him to let down his hair. He quickly shoved the metal circle back into the satchel and into a nearby flower pot, which he pushed out of sight.
As he hauled Kars up he blurted out that he had a surprise. Kars claimed that he had one as well. When he finally pulled him through the window, Kars announced that tonight he was going to make Joseph's favorite, spaghetti. Joseph prepared his speech inside his head about the big reveal of the beautiful man.
"So father, you remember earlier how when we talked about the lights, you said I couldn't go because I wouldn't be able-" "Joseph, drop the subject," "I know, I know, but I can prove that I can take care of myself out there!" "Joseph" Kars bit out in a warning tone, which Joseph paid little mind to since he was getting excited.
"No, no, no! Really! I can prove it to you! Today while you were out, the most incredible thing happened! You see-" Kars' eyelid twitched, and he surged forward and gripping Joseph's wrists hard enough to bruise. "I told you to drop it you stupid child!" He hissed in Joseph's ear.
When he remembered he had to treat the boy like he cared about him, he released him and slumped onto a nearby chair as the now silent Joseph collapsed noislessly to floor. His wrists would be bruised for weeks.
"Great, now I'm the bad guy. This was all your fault to begin with anyway boy. You should have just dropped it when I told you. Now look what you made me do!" Joseph nodded mutely from the floor. "I should have just dropped it like he said. Then I wouldn't have made him snap like that. I'm a terrible son," "I'm sorry father, it won't happen again. I'm sorry I made you snap,"
Kars heaved a great sigh, "I suppose I can forgive you child. It had better not happen again, you know how I hate to strike you. I only do it when you need to be punished," "This boy is insufferable, I wish I could strike him as I pleased. Perhaps now that he's older I can take out my hatred on him more often. He already believes everything I tell him so I could get away with it,"
Joseph was completely unaware of what his "father" was thinking. He only wished that he would forgive him. He can't believe he had pushed at him like that. His father is under a lot of pressure trying to protect him and raise him. Joseph should have known better.
"Father?" "What child?" "I know what I want for my birthday this year, it's not the lights. I was wondering if you could get me some more of that paint made from seashells?" "Joseph that's a three day trip!" "I know, it was just another option, it's fine if you don't want to though," "If I do this, maybe the brat will leave the lights alone! Also it would give me an excuse to not be around this miserable brat," Kars made a show of heaving a big sigh "Fine,"
"Thank you father," The next morning, Joseph woke up, ignored the stinging on his wrists and prepared a travel kit for Kars. He then started cleaning. When Kars came out to leave he grabbed his basket, cloak, and bone blade. He critiqued Joseph's cleaning job and told him that he would be back in three days. Then he left.
