~Chapter Seven~
"What ever made you decide to trust me, Bionda*? Was it my charming good looks?" Joseph scoffed, "Trust me, your appearances are anything but charming,(*cough* lie *cough*) and no. I have decided to make a deal with you," Casanova raised a brow. "Oh, please do share. What is the little game you think you're going to play?"At that, Joseph sent him a sour look, "If you ever want to see your precious satchel ever again," Casanova fidgeted "then I want you to take me to go see the floating lights," "Oh my gosh! I sound so confident! Oop*, can't break my tough image!" Casanova gave an unimpressed look and scoffed.
"What makes you think I would keep up my end of the deal Principessa*?" At this Joseph gave a confident smirk, "You can tear this tower apart brick by brick, but you will never find your precious satchel. With the way you're acting about it, I can only assume that whatever is in it is extremely expensive and valuable," at this Joseph started circling his bound prisoner, a cocky grin on his face.
Casanova shifted uneasily as Joseph started speaking again. "Now my father is away for a few days, that gives up enough time to sneak into the palace, watch the the floating lights-" "Floating light? Do you mean the lanterns?" "Lanterns, I knew they weren't stars!" Joseph turned back to Casanova, "Now, if you safely take me to see those lanterns and back before my father gets back, I promise to give you back your satchel. With the shiny hoopy thing inside."
"Shiny hoops thing? You know what, nevermind. How do I know you will keep this promise?" Joseph leaned in very close, "Because I never break my promises, ever." He said it with such finality that Casanova believed him almost instantly. He gave one last look over Joseph's soft face and clear ocean eyes, with a great groan and heaving sigh he agreed.
Joseph jumped back and danced around with glee. This was it! He was finally going to get out of here and make his dream come true! As he was spinning around his foot got caught on some of his hair which brought him crashing down onto Casanova's lap. Wide emerald clashed with huge ocean blue, both were the color of a ripe tomato.
Joseph scrambled off his lap while keeping his gaze directed to the floor, Casanova however, couldn't take his eyes off Joseph. He gave a nervous chuckle, "Maybe you should calm down before you hurt someone, eh pricipessa?" Joseph gaped like a fish for a few seconds before he snapped out of it and started to dash around the tower a few essential supplies.
When he returned, he untied Casanova then took a quick hop back. Once he had made sure he had everything he needed, he turned to see Casanova halfway out the window with one foot on the ledge and the other on the windowsill. Once he started his way down Joseph took a peak over the ledge, it sure was a long way down. Could he really do this? He had to! It was his dream he was talking about here! There was no choice!
Casanova looked up, there was Joseph on the ledge, why hadn't that idiot started climbing down yet? Surely he'd done it before! I mean there's no way he'd been locked up in that tower all his life... right? He looked up and almost choked at what he saw, there was Joseph, getting ready to take a step off the window ledge! "Bionda no!" But it was too late, he stepped off.
He was going to fall to his death! Until he slowed his fall with his hair? That moron was using it as rope! He stopped just a few feet above the grass, by now he had reached the bottom of the tower and was slowly making his way toward the swinging man. When he got closer he saw the look of pure terror Joseph had on his face. Odd, maybe there was something in the grass?
Joseph took a deep breath and let go, his bare feet softly touched the ground. It was so soft! He got a huge smile on his face as he knealt down and started to roll around in the grass. It felt amazing! Then he bolted up and started to chase a butterfly, until a cold wet sensation hit his feet. With a gasp he looked down to see a small stream gently flowing across his feet. It was so beautiful! He scooped a handful and tossed it in the air, letting the drops fall all around him.
He then took of running around in circles and exploring everything he possibly could while Casanova watched in the background with a shocked expression on his face. Why was he acting like he'd never seen or felt anything outside before? Was he seriously locked up there his whole life? Who would do something like that?
He was snapped out of his thoughts as Joseph came sprinting toward him, hair flying around in the background. He came to a halt in front of him. "You know, I never did get your name," "It's Casanova, and are you done playing? You act as though you've never seen it before," "Well, I haven't actually. I've been up in that tower my whole life. Father said it was too dangerous for me to go outside," Casanova stared at him, how could he say something like that so nonchalantly?! Like it was the most normal thing in the world?
What happened to this man? Joseph looked around with eyes filled with so much wonder that it almost broke Casanova's heart. "This kid has been locked away his whole life, thinking his 'father' was protecting him. Huh what a child!" Suddenly a bush in front of them rumbled and Joseph jumped into his arms while pointing his clackers protectively in front of the both of them. He started swearing and murmuring all these dangerous and highly outrageous scenarios when out hopped a bunny.
"Careful, I hear they can smell fear," Joseph climbed off him while shooting him a sharp look. Suddenly Casanova got an idea, how he could worm his way out of the deal without breaking it. "Hey, Bionda, are you hungry? Because I know a great place to eat," Joseph opened his mouth to reply no but his stomach growled, giving him away.
