08 - fishing

Quick note: thank you all so much for sticking around for that short break, and i can't even begin to thank everyone who left such kind comments. it's meant more than words can describe, i truly love you all so much, and i appreciate all of your kind words so much !! i've been feeling so much better than i was when i wrote that last update, so here's hoping we'll finally be back to regularly scheduled updates. i'm hoping to pre-write a bunch of prompts tonight so i won't feel rushed as the days go by. i hope you all enjoy, and thank you all so much again !! <33

We wake up, bright and early, ready to spend our whole day by the docks nearby. Our cottage isn't too far of a drive from a nearby lake. After I mentioned to you that I'd never been fishing, we decided to make a whole day out of it.

Despite being exceptionally good at fishing in video games such as Stardew Valley or Animal Crossing, it takes me a while to get the hang of real fishing, which was to be expected, really. It relaxes us both though, spending our whole day by the shores. We bring a picnic basket with us to keep us fed as we spend our hours fishing, full of water, fruit, and sandwiches I had prepared the night before.

By the time I actually manage to catch something, the sun was setting. I reel in a fairly small fish, but it was a fish nonetheless. You insist on taking a picture to celebrate: me, my big grin stretched across my face, holding the fish as the golden rays frame us perfectly.

We give up on fishing after that point, instead choosing to spend the rest of our evening finishing up our food and gazing at the stars. The moon and stars reflecting off of the water is stunning, and then I turn to you, and I realize the moonlight hitting you is a much more beautiful sight. I ponder over taking a picture for a moment, but I realize that this perfect moment in time cannot be properly conveyed in a picture; I'd much rather live it than disrupt it with a photo.
