The sunlight seeping in from the open window hits my closed eyes, burning a tad. I wince, my nose crinkling upwards, as I turn away. For a moment, I wonder what time it is. If the sun is already shining, it must already be morning. I force my eyes open, blinking slowly, as my vision adjusts. I briefly ponder over starting the day until my sight sets upon you.
You, curled up in our soft knitted quilt, fast asleep. There's a certain tranquility resting upon your face that brings a tender smile to my own. I'm close enough to plant a kiss on your nose, gently, as to not wake you.
I settle back down; my mind has been made up. The time matters no longer. All that matters is curling up next to you, thinking about how we fit together perfectly. I softly place an arm around you, bringing you closer to me as I shut my eyes once more. I feel our cat shift a bit before making herself at home in the middle of us, and I am content.
Mornings like these do not come around often, what with our early shifts at our jobs, but that just makes them all the more special.
