"As far as I know, it does not concerns any matter related to the pack. Am I right?", Alpha Jace guessed.
"Yes."
"Does it concerns your progress in school?"
"Far from that", Sierra replied looking down.
"Is it about a boy?"
Sierra remained quiet.
"Is it about not finding your mate yet?"
"No", Sierra replied, almost at the verge of tears.
"Is it about rejection?", Alpha Jace prayed for himself to be wrong in his heart.
Sierra looked up at him.
There it was, the problem. It took him off guard.
His head started pounding. According to him, Sierra was such a nice girl. He couldn't understand why someone will reject her!
At the same time, Varez came towards them. All wobbly and drunk.
"I want this dance with Sierra, Alpha Jace", Varez demanded.
Sierra squeezed Alpha Jace's arm which she was holding and that was a sign for Alpha Jace to understand that the rejection had something to do with Varez.
He knew very well that Varez hated Sierra and that Varez likes to mock at her whenever he gets the chance so no way in hell he was going to leave Sierra alone with him and that too when he was drunk.
"I'm afraid not, Varez. She just promised me the next dance. Besides, the night is still young. I'm sure you'll get your chance soon", Alpha Jace replied.
Varez held Sierra's hand, "Dance with me, Sierra!"
Sierra freed her hand from Varez's grip, "Give me one reason."
Varez glared at her, "Fine. But you know what, I thought you would have learnt your lesson after what happened today but you're still flying in the air. It hasn't been even twenty four hours since I rejected you and you.....look at you, being all flirty with another man. You want to act like a slut, then act like one. I don't care."
Varez ordered Carter to come to him, through mind-link. Carter, who was standing with a group of people, excused himself and came to Varez's side, "Yes, Alpha?"
"Let's go", Varez ordered.
"Yes, Alpha!", Carter took Varez towards the back door.
"Sierra, listen to m-", Alpha Jace tried to console her but Sierra ran away from there. Luckily no one had noticed a single thing.
After entering her room, Sierra straight went towards the bathroom to change. When she came outside, Jack was already standing near the window.
"I knew you'd not last longer than two hours down there. You never enjoy social gatherings", Jack commented.
"Why does he always have to be a jerk! He always ruins my birthday", Sierra sat on the floor.
Jack went and sat besides her, "Atleast he didn't create a scene."
Sierra kept her head on Jack's shoulder, "Wish I was a free bird like you Jack."
"If only you knew, Sierra", replied Jack.
Sierra's head shot up, "What do you mean, Jack?"
