Y/n and Aang continue on their walk to the back of the kingdom where several dragons flew by, but never bothered to stop. They were all calm and about the place, only reacting when someone reacted to them.
"I need a soul animal that's with me for a lifetime. A best friend, says the Nomads." Aang raised an eyebrow at her words. "Why can't that best friend be human?" He balanced on his hands and made funny faces but y/n didn't smile...so he stopped.
Aang got back on his feet rubbing behind his neck. "It can but a spiritual connection with animals are much more to human beings I suppose. Though I'd really rather get a human best friend to cherish. Someone that would pass down generations to come." Aang grinned and pointed to himself, "that's what I'm here for!" Y/n sighed and face palmed.
"Whatever Aang." They approach the middle of the field filled with so many fire lilies that stood tall and graceful. "Wow, it's like a fire paradise here!" Aang screamed, dropping onto the flowers. Y/n watched him with a smirk on her face, "get up before you get bugs crawling in and out of your big ears."
She turned and examined the dragons as Aang quickly jumped up, scared to lie back down again. "I leave in two days and I can't go without a mode of transportation. Dragons are the closest animal any firebender should have in the needs of aid. They are firebenders themselves, so help me pick one!" Aang stood beside her.
"Do you really boss your friends around all day? It must really get to you, you know since you're a princess in all?" "Just shut up and guide." Aang shivered at her cold tone and weakly looked her way. "I can't help you pick your dragon, and you can't pick it either." "What?!" Y/n screamed at him, stepping forward.
Aang held his staff infront of him and started shaking down to his teeth, "why is that so Aang?!" "B-because the animal has to choose you!!" Y/n thought about it for a while, stepping off Aang's back and nodding. "I guess you're right." She walked about the field yelling, "come on pick me dragon!" Aang laughed at her trying so hard, maybe it was difficult to actually behave the way she was.
He walked over and grabbed her hand, "okay Avatar y/n, let's try a different approach. How about you sit in the middle of this circle," Aang took his staff and walked around y/n creating an air circle, "and don't move! If a dragon likes you, it'll come over and you'll have yourself a pet!" Those words made y/n want to barf!
"Yeah, that's wonderful!~" "Great! Now sit patient!" Aang ran off watching the scene unfold. Many dragons flew by without even such as a second look, until a f/c one stopped and stared at y/n. It had deep grey eyes and a beautiful set of fangs on it's head. "H-how does it feel Avatar Y/n, to be in the presence of a dragon?" Aang whispered, rubbing his hands together.
"It feels," y/n started, "real shitty."
The dragon huffed smoke all around her, "yeah well I don't like this either!" She yelled at it. Aang smiled, "you're ready." Y/n stood and walked out of the circle when the dragon huffed. She turned slowly watching it fly closer. "What dragon breath?" The dragon whined wrapping it's body around y/n's. Thinking she was in danger Aang rushed to help her, but y/n stops him. "Relax flight bag!" She made eye contact with the dragon, and her heart beats fast.
She held her head, staring at it. "You really are my dragon." It grunted and huffed again, snarling at the h/c headed girl. "I'll call you...Kazan, which represents flame or..volcano!" Y/n gave a small smile and looked back at Aang, who blushed and smiled back rubbing behind his head. "You're really smart." "Of course I am, with knowledge comes great things!"
He starts feeling subconscious, "we're the same age but you think like a wise old lady. I feel jealous, how are you so mature?" Y/n averted her eyes and huffed, "stop asking so much questions!" "Okay, you need a serious personality check! We're going to teach you how to be nice, and since I'm the only airbender around here at the moment we'll also be airbending! Cool huh, I can be your teacher!"
