After Elijah went missing, everyone figured that someone had taken Elijah, so they got to figuring out who, only to find out that it was an ex of Elijah's from long ago. Autumn. It didn't take long to find him though, because she wasn't exactly that smart, which meant that Freya could use a locator spell.

When Elijah was found, he seemed to be under a spell, which Kat assumed to be a sleeping spell. While Klaus dealt with Autumn, Kat got Elijah home with the help of Rebekah. Then they got him on his bed.

"I'll look after him. Have Davina find out what kind of sleeping spell he's under, though," Kat told Rebekah whom left to do just that.

Kat sat on his bedside. She didn't like the idea she had, but she had to find out what was going on. That was why she went inside his head. That's when she saw many many different memories of his. She also found out what Autumn had done, so Klaus went and got the leaf that would undo the spell. Then Kat went back into Elijah's head and convinced him to wake up, which worked.

"Katerina," he greeted when he saw her.

She gave a smile.

"You're awake."

Later that night, he stood on his balcony to his room. He was dealing with what had happened. He'd relived his memories, but had also remembered one that he hadn't known. He'd gone behind a red door and seen that it hadn't been his mother that had killed Tatia. It had been himself. For a thousand years, he didn't see himself as a monster, but now that he remembered that he'd killed the love of his and Klaus' life back then, he found himself thinking he was a monster. After all, what kind of vampire would kill someone he loved?

Kat approached Elijah and stood by his side, before putting a hand on his right arm.

"It's not your fault what you did, you know," she assured him.

"It is," he said. "I killed her."

"You didn't know what you were doing, Elijah. It wasn't your fault. You were a young vampire. We all make mistakes as young vampires. Even I did," she replied to him.

"I'm a monster," he said.

"No, Elijah. You're not. We've all done horrible things in the name of what we all stand for. You'll get through this. I'll help you. You just have to allow me to help you," she replied.

Elijah knew she was right, but he still felt guilty for what he'd done. Young vampire or not, he should've been able to control it with an anchor. He would allow Katerina to help him, though. She clearly wanted to.

A few months later, after a while of her helping him, he got over what he'd done to Tatia all those centuries ago.
