Ch.9: A Mother's Sacrifice

Everything had been peaceful for a while in New Orleans, no threats present, but soon Dahlia woke up, searching for Freya. Then, after Freya knew that she was alive, she informed them. They made a plan to take her down once they found out what would kill her, but it hadn't worked. That's when Kat had an idea of what to do.

They were all in the parlor of the compound, figuring out what to do, when Kat told them of her idea.

"What if we brought your mother back? We can summon her ghost and convince her to help us take down her sister. I know she tried to kill most of you, but if she takes down Dahlia, she could take down herself, too. Two birds with one stone," she suggested.

After some convincing, they all agreed, so that's what they did. Esther agreed to helping get rid of Dahlia.

It was a dismal night, as four of the Mikaelsons tried to breathe from the white ash that Dahlia had made go into the air. It was useless, though. It was worst for Freya though, since she was technically human.

Kat could only look around at the situation, since she knew that despite having magic, she'd never be able to defeat Dahlia. They had to count on Esther to stop her.

As Esther spoke to her sister, Kat knelt by Elijah, as she also looked at the rest of them. She hoped Esther could take care of Dahlia soon. They were all on the ground. She couldn't do much with or without her magic, though. All she could do was watch and try to help.

She rested a hand on the side of his face. She didn't want to lose him. She couldn't.

"Stay with me, Elijah," she pleaded.

As they all lay on the ground, trying to breathe, despite the white ash in the air, their vision blurred, before starting to go gray.

"Elijah," Kat pleaded again.

Esther looked over at her children. Since none of them were strong enough to really fight it to be able to help kill them both, she looked at Kat, giving the doppelganger a nod, before looking at her sister again.

Kat saw Esther nod at her to help her, so, since Kat couldn't stab them both at the same time like a vampire or werewolf could, she magically used the weapon on the ground to do it, just as Esther told Dahlia, "Bleed with me, sister." Then, when they both were dead and turned into dust, the ash in the air disappeared. Kat then looked back down at Elijah.

It took a few minutes, but the siblings all recovered, so Kat helped Elijah up. Then they all went home.
