Cheryl's pov:
It was Wednesday, 1:22pm and I am on my way to a meeting at my work before I get a phone call from my wife Toni. I answered my phone then put it on speaker and set it down so I wouldn't get pulled over.
Phone call between Toni and Cheryl:
Me: Hey love, what's up?
Toni: what's up is that I just got a phone call from our sons school saying he was in a big fight with to other guys and we now have to go talk to the principal.
Me: WHAT!? Are you kidding me!
Toni: nope. Just get here whenever you can please, I love you.
Me: ok I will try, I love you too.
Toni: bye love.
Me: bye.
End call
At this point I was mad as hell, but I knew that Toni would be ten times madder and that's what I had to prepare myself for.
I turned my car around and tried to get there before Toni but when I got there her car was already in the parking lot. "Oh no..." I whispered to myself, scared Toni was probably in there yelling at everything and everyone. I walked in the front doors then went straight to the principals office and when I got there, it was exactly how I imagined it. Toni was yelling at the principal, our son Jake, and even the teacher that found him in the fight. While she was busy screaming at Jake, I gently took the hand she was pointing her finger with and pulled her down to a seat in the back of the office and told her to
"Sit, be quiet, and wait" I said it as calmly as I could.
"BUT HE JUS-" she tried to start but I cut her off by saying
"Yes I know he got into a fight but screaming at people is not going so help, ok" I was looking at her waiting for an answer.
"fine" she whispered and as I walked away she mumbled something under her breath.
"What was that?" I asked in a mom tone because she was acting like a child at this point.
"nothing" she whispered back. I turned my back to her to face my son and other two adults in the room.
"So what happened" I asked him in a calmer voice.
He started by saying "well, I was walking to lunch when I saw a guy push another guy into the lockers but the one that was pushed, had down syndrome and that's not right to push someone so harshly especially when they have a disability, so I went up to the first guy and pushed him off of the disabled kid and then out of nowhere, another guy comes and started beating me up so at that point we were all just fighting each other and that's when the teacher came"
That was totally different than what I had expected. I couldn't even be mad at him. I looked over at Toni and saw she had some tears in her eyes, probably because she jumped to conclusions and started screaming at him without asking why he did it in the first place. I then looked back at my son and he was now crying at this point.
"So what's going to happen?" I asked his principal who looked just as understanding as I did.
"Well, he did still get into a fight but, it was for a good reason so I'm letting him off with a warning" he finished.
Jake jumped up and said "thank you, I promise it won't happen again"
"Ok, just get a teacher next time it does please"
"Yes I will"
Toni then jumped up and asked "wait what's going to happen to those other two boys?"
"Well I will talk to their parents and they will probably get two weeks of suspension" the principal responded.
After that the three of us walked out of the office and I thought I would be pissed and dragging Jake out by his ear, but I was so proud to call him my son that day.
