So yesterday Maxon told me that I have to do a good deed once I become a princess. It can't just be something small so I decided I'm going to dissolve the caste system. I'm supposed to announce it in two weeks on the report so I have time. Once again Maxon and I are going to spend the entire day together. I go out to the gardens to meet Maxon. "So will you please tell me about your first love and I mean everything?" he asks. " It's not a very good story." "Please." "Fine." I tell him everything down to the smallest detail. An advisor comes up to us. "Your Highness we have an urgent matter to discuss, " he says. "You can tell me in front of her, " Maxon says. "A boy has been caned in the town square for stealing food, " the advisor says. "Which province?" Maxon asks. "Carolina sir." "What's his name?" I ask. " Let's see he is a 6 name, Jemmy Leger." No! That's Aspen's little brother. I get up and run inside the palace to gather my things. I'm going to see him at once. I tell a guard to get the plane ready I'm leaving in 5 minutes. Maxon follows me and walks into my room. "Is that his brother?" "Yes Maxon he's only 9 years old. I'm flying out in 5 minutes you can join me if you like but you can stay here if you want." "America we have things to do here!" he says. "I can't just leave!" he continues. "Yeah alright fine but I can leave." I say while throwing some things into my suitcase. "You are coming back right?" "Of course I am it's just I need to be there right now." A knock comes at the door. Maxon opens the door and the king and queen walk in. "What's going on?" Amberly asks. "I'm going to Carolina for a few days, " I say. "Why is that?" the king bellows. "Because that boy that got caned I was very close to him and his family." "I'm going with her father, " Maxon says. "No you aren't. You have duties here!" the king yells. "But father-" "No you are staying here if you go as soon as you get back we will have a chat in my office!" "Now you young lady, a princess doesn't just runoff because a boy got caned!" the king yells at me. "I'm not a princess yet and when I am you better believe I still will!" I yell back. I'm not standing down. I look the king straight in his eyes. "I will see you all when I get back, " I say and walk out the door. When I get to Carolina I take a car to my old house.

I hate having to wear dresses every day and I forgot to change before I left the palace. I rush into my house to be bombarded by my family and I throw my stuff into my old room and run out the door. My family are going to come but later in the day being as my mother is working right now. I jump into the car and my driver brings me to Aspen's house. I knock on the door and Celia answers. "Celia!" I exclaim. "America what are you doing here?" she asks. "I heard about Jemmy and I wanted to come to see y'all." "Come on in, " she says. Mrs. Leger comes rushing over at the sound of my voice. "America darling what are you doing here?" she asks. "I came as soon as I heard about Jemmy, " I say. "I'm so sorry, " I apologize. "Thank you." Kamber and Aspen come waking out of Jemmy's room and Kamber starts to ask, " Mom who's at-." "America!" she exclaims and runs over to me. She hugs me and I see Aspen smiling at me. "Now will someone please tell me how he is?" I ask. "Not very well. We can't afford a doctor so, " Celia explains. I peek my head out the door and gesture to the palace doctor I brought with me. He grabs his stuff and rushes over. "America what are you doing?" Aspen asks. "Meet Dr. Ashlar, " I say. "He's here to take care of Jemmy if you like that is, " I say. "America-" Aspen starts. "Aspen. Mrs. Leger would you like that?" I ask. "I don't want to be a trouble, " she starts. "Nonsense! Dr. Ashlar third door on the right, " I command. "Thank you, " Mrs. Leger says. A few hours later Mrs. Leger and the doctor come out of Jemmy's room to announce he is doing much better. "Oh I have something for y'all, " I declare. "America darling you have done way more than one could ever hope for, " Mrs. Leger insists. "This is a gift. You cannot refuse it because I'm afraid I can't get a refund, " I say jokingly. I pull out my pocket $10,000 and hand it to her. She tries to refuse but I finally get her to accept. She starts to cry tears of joy. "Thank you, " she says through her tears. Aspen looks stunned. Kamber and Celia look excited and shocked. "Thank you Mer, " Aspen says. His whole family knows that we used to be in love now so it doesn't matter what we say or do anymore. "Would you please spend the night here America?" Celia asks. "I don't want to intrude, " I say. "Now it's my turn to call nonsense!" Mrs. Leger says. "Well only if I get to cook that is, " I say. The twins squeal so I'm guessing Aspen has bragged about my cooking to them. "I will be right back I just have to grab my things from my family's house along, " I declare. So I go home grab my bags and some stuff to make dinner and head back to the Leger's house. I go in and start on dinner. When I finish I set the table. I grab a tray and put some food and water on it and I start to walk towards Jemmy's room when Aspen comes out of his room. "Aspen here's Jemmy's dinner, " I say. "Oh you can go in his room Mer he would love to see you, " Aspen says. I knock on the door and then walk in. "Hey Jemmy." "America! You're here!" "I sure am." I turn around to see Aspen watching from the door. I don't think Jemmy has seen him yet. "Did you come back to marry my brother!!?" I blush and I hear Aspen chuckle. "No sweetie I came here to check on you. I came as soon as I heard." "Oh America I'm so sorry I didn't mean any harm. I just wanted to help my family!" " It's okay I'm not here to punish you or anything. I came here to make sure you were alright." "Oh." "I made you some dinner." His face lights up. I place the tray on his lap and leave him to eat his steak with a couple of sides. We all sit down at the table to eat dinner. "America that was sooooo good. Aspen was right about your cooking!" Kamber says. "Thank you, " I say. "Oh no dear thank you!" Mrs. Leger says. "Who is ready for dessert?" I ask. Everyone gets excited and I go to the kitchen to grab the chocolate mousse bombs. Aspen follows so he can help me carry them. I go to Jemmy's room to bring him one and take his other dirty dishes. We eat dessert and I offer to wash the dishes. We all go to sleep. When we wake up I go to grab my outfit to change into and I find that I only packed dresses and pajamas!! Ugh! Oh, wait there are a shirt and a pair of pants. I make breakfast and then Mrs. Leger, Kamber, Jemmy, and Aspen's little sister go to the store. Jemmy is feeling a lot better and he insisted he had to get out of the house. So it's just Aspen, Celia, and I. We are all in the living room when a tiny rock comes flying in the window. "I'll go see what that was, " I say. "Mer-" Aspen starts. "I'll be fine Aspen." I walk outside and some stranger pins me to the ground. His hand around my throat. I scream as soon as I hit the ground. "Where is the prince!" he shouts. I don't answer and he bangs my head against the ground. I see Aspen run out of the house. He punches the guy in his nose and the stranger falls to the ground. He then grabs something and knocks him out. I feel very light-headed and weak. "Mer are you okay?" Aspen asks. "I think so, " I whisper. He picks me up and carries me back into the house. Celia is freaking out. He lays me down on the couch. "Do you have Maxon's number?" Aspen ask. "Bag, " I whisper. Celia runs off to grab the number and phone. She dials and then hands it to Aspen. "Your highness? It's Aspen Leger, " he says into the phone. They have a conversation and when they hang up Aspen says, "Alright America we are going to bring you back to the palace okay?" I nod. Celia comes out with my bag. Aspen picks me up. "Aspen I can walk." "No you are too stubborn for your own good, " he says. We both laugh. They come to the palace with me and we pick up the rest of his family on the way to the plane.
