(Cupid's POV)
C. A. Cupid made her way up the stage as everyone applauded. She cleared her throat for them to calm down, and stared down at the large book on the podium's top.
She opened it and turned to the page she was looking for.
Before reading, she casted a smile to everyone in the hall, skimming around all of them.
"Hi everyone. All of you must know me, I'm Blondie Locks's rival in the media and TV show industry." She received silence and confused whispers. She giggled in her cute breathy voice. Her purpose was to capture his attention.
"Well, I see everyone gives no less than a care to that obviously, and I was only kidding around silly. I'm supposed to be the mother of this day because I'm Cupid, the arrow shooter." She brushed her soft dainty pink hair from her face and focused on the page with words on it."I want to share an exhortation from the Book of True Hearts, given to me by my biological father. It's called the Legend of the Heart Tree.
It says:Once, in the land of Ever After, there had lived a boy who was said to have no destiny. He was born by mistake, a bastard, as society refered to him.
As she read, Justine and her troop of dancers did their short recital behind her.
He was only a little baby when his mother had sold him away, because she was ashamed to have given birth to a living thing that didn't belong anywhere. She wanted to save herself the embarrassment of being his mother.
A farmer who lived out of town had raised the boy, and had noticed that he was special in many ways. The boy had a very good heart, and he loved to share his happiness. He always wanted kindness and love to go far and spread everywhere. But the farmer knew that couldn't have been possible, because evil was still lurking around, destroying the happiness of love.
The boy had faith in what he knew could happen, and he intended to prove it.He left the small town and disguised himself to be another fella, and made his journey back to Ever After to find one of the evilest villains that ever lived, and decided to completely change their ways. On his way he met this very beautiful girl with violet eyes, and they became friends since they were headed the same way. She had asked him several times what his name was, but in reply he'd always say he didn't have a name, but she can call him Little Boy, since that's what the farmer always called him.
The girl's name was Dahlia, and she thought it was weird not to have a name. She decided to call him Little for short.
They reached Ever After after a long journey of getting to know each other and bonding. Little never told her that he was born in Ever After, or that he was a bastard. They went along together in that beautiful land of fairytales, until Dahlia was at her stop, and Little had to go on without her.
He was missing her a lot as he passed the days, and he found himself thinking about her more often. He finally reached a dark castle, and he asked to see the queen. He was brought deep inside the castle, where the wretched queen was rotting on her throne.
He talked to her about how kindness and love can do wonders, spread heavenly and make the world a better place. The old queen was completely taken aback, she hadn't expected that kind of talk. But she enjoyed it too. She was craving for change around here, and decided to go along with it.
The queen stepped out of her castle for the first time, and was actually, happy! She was so happy that she gave the boy a small pink seed to plant somewhere. He went to the place where he dropped Dahlia off, and asked for her.
Dahlia was so surprised to see him again, and he took her to barren land. He dug a hole in the ground and placed the seed there, covered it up while she watered it.
A little plant was slowly sprouting from the ground, inviting a crowd to witness. The farmer had come too, he'd received news that Little had gone to see the queen.
The pink plant was growing and growing, it's branches stretching out and sprouting beautiful leaves of different colours. The tree became bigger and taller, until it was as wide as a baobab. The leaves started shooting into the people around, and their clothes transformed. Almost everyone in Ever After had caught a leaf, and goodness, kindness and love dwelled inside.
The crowd screamed in happiness and joy, kissing and hugging each other. Lots of couples and brotherhoods began to form.
The farmer engulfed Little in a warm hug. He confessed that he knew Little had finally proved him wrong. Love and kindness could spread very, very far.
The last pink-red leaf fell on Little, and his clothes transformed into a beautiful white feather shirt and smooth brown pants.
His hair was a deep pink colour, and he had a bow and arrow in his hands, and a pack of arrows on his back.
The farmer smiled proudly, and said that whoever said he didn't belong, including his mother, was wrong.
On that day, he was named to be Cilarlos Arcadio Cupid. On that day he spread lots and lots of love. On that day he was given a beautiful baby girl from Dahlia. Charlotte Aviella, was her name. On that day, the tree was now called the Heart Tree, and it strengthened Cilarlos and all the Cupids that followed to fulfil their duties and destinies.
On that day, love was created.Thank you."
It took a second for the hall to erupt madly, others emotionally overjoyed and really proud to have heard a beautiful story about love.
Everyone was on their feet, screaming and applauding, while Cupid smiled brightly and waited for them to settle. She was hoping her mans was impressed with the way she professionally told the story without any water or a little break.
She was quite proud of herself for receiving such a long and heartfelt applause.Once they quietened, she called on the bodyguards to bring out the trollies full of the mini heart cakes she and Briar and Hopper had ordered.
"These are small tokens of appreciation to all your loved ones, telling them you love them so very much. You can take as much as you wish. Please, come forth everyone!" She left the stage as people began to collect cakes to give out.
She got one and made a beeline to him. He was speaking to Hopper in deep conversation, so she tapped his shoulder and gave her cutest smile.
"Hey Dex." She said.
"Oh, hi Cupid. A nice tale you gave us, it really banged some people in the heads." He nodded to Hopper and grinned.
"Your very welcome. Hey um, this is for you. Happy THD."
He took it and smiled, feeling happy to have a friend like her around."Thank you, I really appreciate you, Cupid." He hugged her, and let go as soon as he remembered what he was about to do.
"Excuse me." He left for the trollies.
Wow, she thought, he's going to fetch a cake for me. Am I so lucky like that?
She stood there, lost in her lustful world.
