Rody and Leni were at the supermarket to buy some groceries while Katja spent the night at her Lola Soling's house as she just got discharged from the hospital.
"Si Mama kasi mag grocery sa bahay palagi. Magbigay lang ako ng pang grocery tapos sya na bahala." Rody narrated as he pushes the big cart and follow her.
"You know what, you should learn how to do this on your own. Paano kapag may mga ganitong emergencies na di puwede si Mama? Paano ka na?" She remarked while putting some body wash and shampoo inside the cart. She didn't wait for his reply anymore as she moved forward to find some laundry detergent. "Alin dito—" she was about to asked him which brand is he using when she realized that he failed to follow her. She looked back and saw him talking to a lady.
"How's Nanay Soling? Oh my gosh! I heard she was rushed to the hospital. I hope she's okay." Mitch held Rody's arm as she engaged him in a conversation the moment she saw him out there.
Rody smiled sincerely, "She's okay, maam. She was discharged yesterday from the hospital. Thank you for your concern maam."
Mitch moved closer to him as she lightly stroked his arm, "You're welcome, mayor."
Rody was about to say goodbye to Mitch when Leni suddenly put the detergent inside the cart forcefully that it startled him and Mitch at the same time, "Ang bigat ng mga sabon dito, nabagsak ko tuloy." Leni hinted.
"Um Maam Leni, this is Mitch. Owner man sya ng hotel dito sa Davao." Rody introduced. "And Maam Mitch, this is Leni."
"Hi! Pleasure to meet you!" Leni tried to smile enthusiastically but deep inside she wanted to roll her eyes, she offered her hand for a shake hands.
"Pleasures mine!" Mitch shook Leni's hand. "May kasama ka pala mayor. Sorry Leni, I thought he was alone."
Leni smiled sarcastically, "Oh no, it's okay. I was just there looking for soap." She looked at Mitch's cart and noticed that it's half empty, "Maybe you should check out the soap section, bili ka, madaming pampatanggal ng kati dun."
"Excuse me?" Mitch asked, it came it to her differently.
"Um I mean, yung kati, you know allergies ganyan. Baka lang you have some skin allergies, maybe you should try other soap brands. Madami dun, nakita ko." Leni made up an excuse.
"Ah." Mitch chuckled. "Anyway, I should get going."
"Yeah you should." Leni uttered. Rody and Mitch looked at her, "I mean, um you should go kasi diba baka nagmamadali ka, you have other appointments ganyan. Just to save your time."
"Yeah actually you have a point." Mitch agreed. "Sige ha mayor, Leni ingat kayo." And off she go.
Leni glared at Rody the moment Mitch was out of sight, "Bakit mam?" He asked nervously.
"Seriously? Here at the supermarket, nakikipaglandian ka?" She squinted her eyes.
He frowned, "I'm not doing anything. Di man ako makipaglandian."
She snorted and shook her head in disbelief, "Talaga lang ha." She get the cart from him and leave him behind.
Minutes later and they continued to stroll around the supermarket buying some groceries, but it was quiet this time. She was still choosing what to buy and he was still pushing the cart and followed her wherever she was. "That was rude." He uttered breaking the silence.
"Huh?" She frowned at him.
"The way you talk to Mitch earlier, it was rude." He looked back at her.
"Now you're defending her." She rolled her eyes.
"No, I'm not. I'm just pointing out how you behave earlier." He said calmly.
