"Excuse me, you want us to what?"

Hotch stood behind his desk in his office, Emily and I standing in front of him.

"I said, it's just temporary. You two will live in a safe house until we find the unsub." Hotch's voice was clear and powerful.

"Well the unsub is barely leaving clues! For all we know, we'll be in there for years." Emily made a strong point. The unsub was doing a great job of covering his tracks.

"It's for your own safety. We cant jeopardize your spot on the BAU. You can still review cases there." We knew that Hotch would have the final word, but it was still frustrating.

Soon after, Emily and I were at home, packing clothes and any other things we would need.

I couldn't help but think. What's going to happen? Are we going to be safe? And much less, what will happen with us?

I paced around my bedroom, my suitcase laying empty on my floor.

How could Hotch just tell us to go pack up our lives and move into... basically quarantine. It just made no sense. Why go after us? I was starting to get a headache from all of the pulsating thoughts in my head.

I flopped down on my bed, trying to avoid the suitcase.

I was thinking about JJ. I always smiled whenever I thought about her.

What if she notices? Shes totally gonna catch on.. and then what?

Nothing'll be the same anymore.

I stood up. I needed a distraction. Usually, work was my distraction. The fast action, the adrenaline, I craved it. But of course, you cant do anything when you're a target.

I opened my closet, grabbing some blouses and t-shirts. A few sweatshirts came into the mix, along with a few pairs of assorted pants.

My bag of toiletries consisted of the normality for most. Hairbrush, toothbrush, deodorant, stuff like that.

I felt like I was forgetting something at the end.

I glanced over at my gun and badge sitting on my kitchen counter.

Oh, how I wish I could use them.
