Scorpia glanced at me over the rock as I climbed over it. I pressed a smile to my face, hoping that it would bring a smile onto hers.

"How're you feeling?" I asked, my voice soft and gentle. I took a less than graceful seat beside her on a log, swiping a strand of her white hair out of her eyes.

She let out a heavy sigh, and seemed to wring her claws. "Not too great, to be honest," she mumbled, looking at anything but my eyes. "I screwed up. Again."

We had just returned from a mission, trying to liberate Etheria from Horde Prime, one village at a time.

I had been injured before I was able to play my part in the plan; typing in the password to the Horde Camp Headquarters that we had stolen. Scorpia had tried to help out, but with her big bulky claws, it was impossible to type in the proper sequence, and she ended up getting us caught.

I couldn't blame her for feeling bad.

"No, no, you didn't screw up," I said, looking up at her pretty face, putting a hand on her claw.

She flinched slightly, and I felt a pang in my chest. I would do anything to take away her insecurity of her claws. "If anything, it was my fault for letting my guard down, and thinking I could pull that off by myself. I should've asked you to watch my back."

Scorpia went silent, and just stared into my eyes. "Yeah," she muttered after a moment of quiet. "I guess you did kinda screw up."

I snickered, and patted her arm. "Brutally honest," I mumbled. "Just like normal."

"I still don't understand why."

I scrunched up my face, and frowned at her. "What do you mean? What don't you understand?"

Her broad shoulders bounced with quiet laughter. "I don't understand how you're not afraid of me."

I took my hand off her arm, taken back by her statement. "Afraid of you? That's crazy! How could anyone be afraid of you?" Despite the concerned tone in my voice, I let out a short laugh, thinking about how silly that she thought I could be scared of her.

"I have these giant claws!" she shouted, waving them in the air. "I'm huge. I'm a monster?" She looked at me incredulously, like she couldn't believe that I didn't agree with her.

"Scorpia, don't be an idiot." I glared at her, and stood up, disgusted with how she was treating herself.

"An idiot! Great, another name to this list," she scoffed. "Moron, klutz, annoying. I could go on and on for days."

Groaning, I sat back down beside her, running my hands over my face. She was being an idiot. A big, loveable idiot, with a beautiful personality, spirit, and frankly, a beautiful face.

"You know what," Scorpia sighed, "I'm going to go take a nap. Think about this. Maybe I shouldn't do any more 'missions.'"

She started to get up, but before she could, I grabbed her arm and yanked her back down onto the log, but she ended up sitting a little closer than I intended. Her brown eyes stared into me, and I blushed profusely, completely at a loss for words, so, out the pressure of the moment, I kissed her.

Scorpia withdrew slowly, examining my face, her mouth still open slightly. "Wha-?"

"S-sorry," I mumbled and took my hands off her arms, blushing profusely. "I'm so sorry, Scorpia. I don't know why I did that," I muttered, avoiding her eyes.

"Um," she said, shifting her feet around in the green grass. "I, uh, there's nothing to apologize for. Can we... kiss again?"

I blushed madly, but made up for it with a giant smile. "I guess it couldn't hurt," I chuckled, wrapping my arms around her neck.

"That's the thing," Scorpia Saïd after she ended our second kiss. "I'm afraid of hurting people, that's why I'm so..."

"Cautious?" I finished for her.

"Yeah."

I smiled, taking one of her claws in my hands again. "You could never hurt me."

"But what if I do!" Scorpia stressed, leaning her head down on top of mine.

"You won't."
