"Why you look like that?" The chair that Sasuke pulled from an empty desk screeched. He sat on it as he stared deeply at her ghostly eyes that were reddish from the use of crying. Earlier, he came in to deliver documents to Asuma sensei's class. After that, he turned his heels to walk out the room but the mousy Hyuga came in slowly. Her feet staggered on the well-polished floor and her head hung down causing her hair covering her face. Books were in her hands and sniffles squeaked out.
Asuma sensei was going to lecture her but he let her be.
Soon as Sasuke's class finished, he ran off to her classroom. Luckily, she was still there in the back with her head laying against the desk.
Now Sasuke wanted to know what's the deal with her.
"Plea-pleasse leave me alone." She sniffed. The palm of her hands wiped the corners of her eyes. He brought her hands down and laid them on the desk. His thumbs rubbing off her knuckles. Her eyes trembled everywhere but at him.
"No. I'm not going to leave you here crying."
"Don't wor-worry about me. I'm fi-fine."
"If you're going to stutter, I'm not leaving." The corner of his lips raised. Hinata's dark brows furrowed as she smiled softly. He reached up and brushed his thumb under her eye. Leaving a pink hue across her nose.
"You're un-unfair."
"And you're killing me." He chuckled.
Hinata rolled her eyes. She pulled away from him and wiped her face the best she could. After gulping down bitter emotions, her eyes lighten up a bit. The two got up to head to their next class that started ten minutes ago.
In the halls, Sasuke and Hinata steps were careful and sluggish. Their arms would touch as they swayed. Hinata blushed from it. She glanced to the side. He looks down at her with concern in his eyes.
"So, you're not going to tell me? Is it about that... guy" He said. She stopped.
"I wish not to speak about ...him."
"Then what's wrong?" Hinata sighed. Of course, she trusts Sasuke. But she didn't have the courage to explain to him how much emotions building up lately that stressing her out. Sasuke is such a caring friend to her. She admire and blessed to have him in her life. How can she tell him that she can not figure out how to leave things behind.
"Um... Sakura..." She started with a small topic that barely bothered her.
"Sakura apologized." Hinata said quietly. The tall boy turned to face the short girl.
"Seriously?" He couldn't believe that Sakura had finally apologized. It has been months then so why now? No way he trusts Sakura sneaky behavior. That girl could lie to your face and mess with your head. Like the time at the party when she seduces him after he drunk about three cups. And now she's messing with Hinata's.
The Hyuga nodded her head.
"Oh..."
"She wants to be friends." She mumbled while looking at her fidgeting fingers. Sasuke took her hand and held it.
"What do you want?" Hinata's head raised. His hand brushed her long dark tresses behind her ear. Her heart pounded. His dark eyes always pull her into confusion. She didn't know what was in his head. Stepping in his space would lead her into something she might regret. And losing that friendship they're making up for will crash down.
As he voiced that question, it made her wonder what he wanted than her. But he definitely asked her.
What she wanted? The simplest question ever. She was asked this in the hospital. They would give her and other child talks about this. And she would answer them from the bottom of her heart. Doctors saw how positive she would respond the them. Based on her name, she was the light in a grassy field with a blossom meadow and a bright sky. A sunny place. In middle school, students were to express what they want just to give them hope for their future.
