Len's POV:
Class felt so long. I wanted to to talk to Miku, figure out if she knew anything about yesterday. Or at least, what I thought was yesterday. Halfway through the last class I accidentally kicked her chair. I had been swinging my feet cause there was nothing else to do.
She turned a little and glanced at me. I smiled and mouthed sorry. She flushed, turned back to the front, and sunk her head into her arms.
Mr. Shion paused. "Are you all right Miss Hatsune?"
"I...I'm fine, I just have a headache..." Miku mumbled.
"Would you like to see the nurse?" Mr. Shion asked kindly.
I could tell Miku was really uncomfortable. She REALLY didn't want all this attention...so why did she pull a knife out yesterday? I know she's really abused but I never would have guessed it was THAT bad.
Miku stood and nodded. She left the room quickly.
Should I follow her? That seemed kind of creepy in my mind, but I didn't want her to get hurt. And anyway, there were only ten minutes left in class.
Luki turned and gave me two thumbs up and then held up his ten fingers.
I rolled my eyes at him. Two days in a row? Not even close to funny.
Finally the bell rang to signal that class was over. Mr. Shion called out various homework assignments, but I was already running out the door.
I need to keep an eye on Miku.
Miku's POV:
Why had he kicked my chair? When I turned around he had smiled at me and said sorry.
Nobody had ever APOLOGIZED to me before. I didn't know whether he was being sarcastic or not but I could feel my face getting warm.
Now I was on my way to the nurse's office, of course I wasn't really going there...I didn't want her to see my cuts. Then she would ask me where I got them and my brain wasn't working right today. I was too confused. My mind kept asking over and over why the most popular boy in school was being NICE to me. I'm so scared, I don't want it to be like last time.
A teacher came marching up to me.
"Miss Ruko tells me that you smashed the bust in the music room. Is that true?" She asked.
Ruko...I hadn't smashed the bust!? But what would Ruko do to me if I denied it? It was worse than whatever punishment the principle would give me.
"Y...yes ma'am I did it when I was angry."
"Pretty lame excuse. I expect you to come to the principle's office after class, do you understand?"
"Y...yes ma'am." I nodded.
She walked off, and then Ruko and the other girls came laughing around the corner.
"Oh little Miku! Why would you smash the bust? Don't you know how much TROUBLE that will get you in?"
"Why did you tell her I smashed it?" I whispered and clenched my fists. I'm so tired and hurt all over. I had put up with this for so long...I just wanted to go home and stop breathing. Just let me stop breathing.
"You know why don't you?" Ruko asked, feinting surprise. "Why, it's because you think you can just step up! You think that just by raising you head a little you get to climb higher up in rank here? Well listen Miku...I'm at the top and you'll always be at the bottom rung." She giggled. "No wonder your mother hates you! I bet this is exactly why your father ra..."
"STOP!" I cried and put my hands against my ears.
"Excuse me? See what did I say. You think that now you can just turn up your nose and walk away?"
"S...stop please...I don't want to....hurt you..." I gasped. I was starting to lose control. Not again....not again...please Ruko just back off.
She laughed. "YOU hurt ME!? Well Hatsune, I would like to point out that you're dreadfully outnumbered. I wonder what your father would say if he saw you now..."
I lost my control. The control I had worked all day to hold onto, no, my whole LIFE.
I couldn't see anything but red and black. All I knew was that I was hurting someone...
and I couldn't stop.
Len's POV:
I heard someone shriek so I ran down the hall. Some faster kids got ahead of me. They circled around whatever was going on.
I got a peek between two kids heads and saw Miku on top of Ponytail.
"STOP STOP STOP!" Ponytail was screaming.
I tried to shove by the kids, but they had no intention of letting me through.
"MIKU!" I yelled. "HEY MIKU STOP!"
Miku froze and blinked. Then she screamed and jumped off of ponytail, who stood up revealing a black eye, and a bloody nose and lip.
Miku looked around at all the people, she looked like she was about to cry. Then she saw me. Her eyes widened and she ran off.
Not again!
I chased after her before any of the other students could react. "MIKU WAIT!"
She tried to take that sudden turn to the right which led up to the stairs but I cut her off. "Miku hold on!"
She turned immediately and ran towards the doors.
I followed her outside. She was running for the cross walk and actually looked both ways before bolting across.
"MIKU!" I yelled again.
Then I saw it. A truck came speeding down the road, it swerved at the last possible minute but I watched it slammed into Miku.
Oh my...
I stood in a cold numb daze before I started screaming. Not again! My stomach wrenched at the sight of her.
I couldn't look anymore. Everything went blurry and I passed out.
In my dreams the scene played over and over again.
What on earth was going on?
