November 2008

Two months of Louis' junior year had gone by, and they were the most exceptional two months of his life. He had reluctantly opened up to Harry more, and he didn't regret it. The pair had grown inseparable, rivalling Louis' friendship with Zayn, something Louis thought impossible.

After weeks of back and forth texting, and disgust from Harry when they dissected frogs, Louis ultimately gave in to the friendship. Harry was ecstatic and made Louis attend his audition for their school's production of Grease, where the latter sulked in the back of the auditorium.

A week later when Harry received the lead role of Danny, Louis was the first person he told. Louis never understood high school theatre and often avoided it like the plague, but when Harry got the role, Louis felt an unusual sense of pride.

The only issue was Harry's growing popularity. Like many schools, they had their football team, but their theatre outshined them greatly. So, when the rest of the school saw the casting, Harry was treated as high school royalty, much to Louis' dismay. His only friend wasn't his anymore and was now someone he had to share with the entire student body. Louis was ready for Harry to leave him, he thought it was bound to happen eventually, but Harry didn't.

Harry continued to sit with Louis at lunch, ignoring the protests from the other thespians, and extra kids that, Louis thought, just wanted him to increase their popularity. He looked on in awe as Harry turned away his fans and made Louis braid his hair. It made the brunet warm up to him even more. Harry could have left him, like everybody else, but he stayed and didn't let his popularity change who he was.

Louis did take note of how Harry soaked up the attention he got from his peers when he wasn't with him, mostly after a performance or a well-delivered presentation. Louis didn't notice, however, how Harry's smile was brighter when Louis was the one providing him with the attention.

Harry always used to appreciate it most when he was the subject of Louis' attention, something that would change in their future together.
