Louis has never celebrated his birthday. He doesn't understand the point. If all you're doing is existing another year, what is there to celebrate? He thinks that birthday parties are a waste of money that could be put towards something more beneficial, like post-secondary education. This was why he refrained from telling Harry when his birthday was, only to have him find out from their office secretary.
Harry, of course, jumped at the opportunity to do something for Louis. As his best friend, a self-proclaimed title, he vowed to give Louis the best birthday ever. When Louis caught on, he immediately shut him down. He wanted nothing to do with Harry's birthday plans.
Harry had begun to interrogate Louis and soon learned that he adored astrology. He would watch in awe as Louis rambled away, unusual for the boy, about Perseus or the history behind Cassiopeia.
On Louis' birthday, Harry insisted on bringing him to the park to stargaze, but he was having none of it.
"Listen, I don't fancy going out in the cold. Besides, I don't want to do anything for my birthday."
Harry scoffed and continued to develop his plan. He grinned at his phone before tossing it on the floor and sprawling across Louis' lap. Louis, who was trying to read, shoved him off and picked up his own phone that had sent off a ding, shortly after Harry interrupted him.
"Absolutely not."
"Oh come on, Lou-"
"I hate Lou."
"Louis, just one birthday! I promise you won't get cold, and I won't even bring cupcakes!"
Harry received a glare but quickly disregarded it as he saw Louis timidly nod his head. Louis wasn't sure why he had agreed, but he decided the look on Harry's face made it worth it. He enjoyed watching Harry's eyes light up, and if eyes truly were the windows to the soul, then Harry was extremely happy with Louis.
