On heavy feet, Yoongi walked into his home. Feeling that guilt that had been eating way at him the second he caught those tears within the eyes of the woman he loves. Tears that he knew were caused by him. And tears that had him walking up to her the second he caught sight of the girl in the kitchen. Looking all too beautiful to his gaze.
And Ming could feel his presence from behind her. All while his arms softly came around her body. Having buried his face into her neck as he did so.
"I'm sorry." His tone was so gentle. Gentle enough to have her barely able to understand what he said. Because the man was becoming someone he never thought he'd become in her eyes. Just like HyungJin was.
"I just got caught up on the phone, baby. And I couldn't just let it go—"
"It's okay." It wasn't. Wasn't okay. Wasn't something that made her feel good. Because it was always business that came first. Business she knew could get the man killed if he wasn't careful. And business she knew she had signed up for. . . the second she let the man come into her life again.
And he watched as she turned around in his grasp. Having been cooking dinner for the two of them. Because she loved that. Loved having that special time at night where it was just them.
However, nothing was the same. Same as it was just days ago, even if she made herself think that it was. Trying her hardest to ignore those thoughts leading back to him, and not the man who was standing right there in front of her.
And Ming could feel the way he pulled himself back. Moving over to the kitchen island where he had a little blue box lying on the counter. Pairing with the bouquet of flowers that he knew were her favorite. Having always surprised her with them all those years ago.
"I know things are different right now, that I fucked up and that you don't trust me, but I promise that I love you, Ming. . . I've always fucking loved you." He took hold of her things. Walking back over to the woman who met his eyes. All while her fingers wrapped themselves around the two items that had her heart wanting to so badly ache. But the girl was numb. So, so numb.
"Yoongi—"
"Just open it for me, baby—please." And she would. She'd let her fingers come around the white ribbon surrounding the Tiffany blue box, all while opening the thing in a slow manner. Revealing a necklace she couldn't deny was beautiful to her. And a necklace she could remember looking at with him when they were downtown. Having made herself keep silent when he asked her if she wanted it. Because the girl never cared to have people spend money on her, even if Yoongi knew that she loved it. Loved surprises.
"Yoongi—"
"You remember when we were downtown, kitten? Huh?" She could see the tears in his eyes. Tears he didn't even know were there. Yet tears that had her expression slowly faltering as he laughed in a soft manner. Sounding just as broken. . . as her.
"Yes." That earned a smile from the man. All while her eyes shifted back to the necklace. Allowing for her fingers to graze over the jewelry itself. The same piece of jewelry she never thought he'd remember.
"You used to do that all the time with me, baby. So, then I'd go buy it for you. . . and come home to surprise you with it—"
"Yoongi—"
