Lauren's POV
We arrived back at the station so Ally and I could have more privacy. I sit down on my chair and Ally sits across from me. "So what happened?" I asked.
"Okay so after you were done interrogating Camila and took her to her cell I stopped by to talk to her but I didn't see her there..."
~Flashback~
Ally's POV
After getting a bottle of water I feel energized and walk to the holding cell to talk with Camila. As I arrive I glance inside to see that she's not there.
Another officer passes by and looks inside then takes off. I trip over my feet trying to catch him but it was too late. Minutes later he comes back but this time with the COP with him.
"Where is she?" He asks me.
"I don't know Lauren dropped her off here," I said.
"I knew it. She was going to escape once she knew that we were onto her," He says fuming, "Was there anyone guarding?"
"No," I respond.
"If she ever turns up bring her to me. She escaped because she knows she's guilty," He says.
"But-"
"No excuses," He marches away.
"So that is what happened..." She whispers.
I sit up and frown, "This is my fault maybe if I left her there he would have reconsidered it."
"Maybe. But you know him, Lauren," Ally says.
"Yeah..." I mumble. I hear a knock on my door and I call out for them to come in.
"Lieutenant they just brought Austin Mahone in," An officer says.
"I'll be right over," I nod. He leaves and I stand up looking at Ally. "We have work to do Detective."
----------
I tap my fingers on the table as I stare at Austin. He avoids eye contact at all costs. Hm, I wonder why I thought. "Do you know why you are here again?" I asked.
"No," He shakes his head.
"Well let me tell you why we found a tape and saw the killer. Tall, wearing a black hoodie and black gloves, you like wearing those now don't you?" I asked.
"Ye-yes," He stutters.
"Is there something you are not telling us Austin? Why are you avoiding eye contact with me?" I asked.
"Because I'm scared of you," He says.
"Really? You don't look like the type of person," I raise one eyebrow.
"Surprised much? Your intimidating," He says.
"I just want to get information Austin and I feel like you know everything that goes around in Chicago," I said.
"Well, maybe but I don't know anything about this."
I can sense that he is shaking in his boots but I don't decide to say anything. "Well, I'll be searching your nightclub tonight for anything you're not telling us," I said.
"But you-"
"Shut up. Just a couple more questions." I stood and kneel down next to him. "You claimed you bought drugs from Liam and tried to get a hold of Camila. Why didn't you pass by the house? Because she was there the whole time and I know that you have her address," I explain.
"It-it never thought about going there," He says.
"You never thought about it, or were you doing something else?" I raised one eyebrow.
"I-" He takes a deep breath. "Okay, I'll have to admit. Michael never paid me. When Camila told me that bastard didn't want to pay I already knew he wasn't going to pay me. I know how that fucker works, " He says.
"So you admitting you were involved in the murder?" I asked.
"What no," He says quickly.
Too quickly. "Don't lie to my fucking face Austin. I know how you work, if you don't get paid you kill," I said. I stare at him, fury in my eyes but he doesn't respond anymore. I groan and stand up turning to Ally. "Take him to his cell, call SWAT Sergeant Bazzi and tell him to get his men ready," I said.
"Right away Lieutenant," Ally says, helps Austin stand up, cuffs him, and leaves.
I groan and sit down where Austin was and run a hand through my hair. I pull out my phone and call Gerald. Three rings in, he picked up.
"Hello?"
"Hi Gerald," I said.
"Lieutenant Jauregui. How's my sister? Any luck figuring out she's innocent?" He spoke.
"How'd you-"
"Know everything Lieutenant, " He says.
"Fair enough. Listen I think Austin just admitted he was part of the murder. I'm doing a search through his club you know any contacts of his that I can look out for?" I asked.
"Maybe one. Jamie Dornan. I don't really know anything about the dude since he's mostly off the grid but I do know that dude is dangerous. Got in a fight with him not too long ago and almost died," Gerald explains.
"You think he's Austin's puppet?" I asked.
Gerald laughs, "He being Austin's puppet? Austin is probably his puppet. But if not they're working together. This is all I could inform you with Lieutenant everything else is your job."
"Got it thank you, Gerald," I said.
"Anything to help my sister."
