Days later...
Lauren's POV
I take a sip from my morning latte from Starbucks as I revise some records. I hear commotion around me then Zayn calling, "Lauren!" I look up at the boy, confusingly. "What's up?" I asked.
"We just got a call come on I'll explain on the way," Zayn says hurriedly.
I stand up, grab my jacket, and follow Zayn to our police car. I enter the driver's side as he gets into the passengers. I pull out and follow Louis' car and the two other police cars. "So what happened?" I ask.
"We got a call from a landowner he says he was coming to pick up the rent from one of the houses, the guy who owns the house he is named Michael, last name still unknown. Well, anyways the rent hasn't been paid in days so the landowner came by, nobody answered so he opened the door with his own keys. When he first entered he saw two trails of blood leading to the backyard, very confused that's where he went. He checked everywhere and finally went to the supply shed, he didn't enter but the trail of blood stopped there and it reeked horribly inside so we are going to check out out."
I nod and minutes later my police car, Louis', and the two other ones stop in front of a modern house. We all get out, silence the sirens but keep the lights on. Since I'm the Lieutenant I walk up to the landowner. "Police Lieutenant Lauren Jauregui, name?" I ask.
"Bennett Cooper," He shakes my hand.
"Please lead me to the situation," I motion for him to go.
Bennett shows us to the backyard and on the way we see the two trails of blood he explained. I motion for the other officers to not step on it as we walk out to the backyard.
"There it is," He motions to the shed.
As we close in, the reeking smell enters our nostrils. I bring my arm, covering, my nose, coughing. It smelt like something was fucking rotting in there. There was a lock closing it off so I motion for Louis to use his snap gun to unlock it. He brings it out and the lock opens immediately. I bring my hand up to the wooden plank that you push up as I count down to three. I lift up the wooden plank, open the door and the reeking smell immediately hits us. We all cover our noses but when we look inside the scene made us all sick to our stomachs.
There was about a middle-aged male dead along with his wife, blood of pool surrounding their lifeless bodies, and almost around all the wooden supply shed, but that's not the most disturbing part. It looks like the male's neck was slashed, he bled out and died from blood loss. But the woman looks way different. She has different kinds of marks all over her body, her outfit is ripped and it looks like she was stabbed multiple times.
"Oh my God," I whisper. I back out of the shed making sure to be careful. "Mr. Bennett, can you give me any information about the couple?" I ask.
"Yeah the male is Michael Bisping retired UFC fighter, he's 38 years old, his wife I really don't know much about her but her name is Rebecca," Bennett explains.
"Thank you, Mr. Cooper," I shake his hand. "Unfortunately you are our only witness at the moment so we need to take you in and investigate."
"Of course I understand Lieutenant Jauregui," Bennett nods.
I motion for Zayn to handcuff him and he does. Zayn leads Mr. Cooper out to our police car. I look at Louis, Officer DeLuca, and Officer Williamson.
"What are we going to do Lieutenant Jauregui?" The buff dark-skinned boy asks.
"I don't know Officer Williamson let's go inside, I have to make a few calls." We all go inside the house and I put on some black rubber gloves. I kneel down next to the trail of blood and examine it. I furrow my eyebrows and stand up seeing little small pearls on the floor. I look up the other officers who are equally confused. "I can't do this myself I have to make a couple of calls," I said and walk out to the front of the house. I pull out my phone and dial the person's number. It rings a couple of times until the person picks up.
"Hello?" They answer.
"Ally Brooke," I said with a smile.
"Lieutenant Lauren Jauregui," She responds. "What brings your attention to call me?"
"We have a murder crime scene in our hand's detective," I explain.
"I'll be right over Lieutenant," Ally says and hangs up.
I dial the next number and wait for them to pick up. It takes a while for them to pick up and when they finally do they answer cheerfully.
"Lauren Jauregui!" Harry chirps.
"Harry Styles," I smile. "I want you to listen closely."
"I'm all ears Lieutenant," He says.
"We have a murder crime scene in our hands. I know you're in retirement but can you postpone out of retirement to get the analysis in the lab, you're our best analysis doctor," I said hopefully.
"Anything for an old friend Lauren," Harry says and I can sense his smile.
"Thank you, Harry," I smile.
"No problem Lieutenant," He says and hangs up.
I sigh and go to Louis' car, opening the trunk and taking out the police crime scene tape. I walk over and call Louis over. He comes outside and starts helping me put the crime scene tape all around the house.
"Who do you think did this?" He asks.
"I don't know but we need Detective Brooke to get here before we start anything and Analysis Doctor Harry Styles to study the bodies, their wounds, and clothing," I explain.
"So, for now, we do this and interrogate Mr. Cooper to see what he knows," Louis says.
"Yeah I need to call Justin though, to help us interrogate any witnesses, and through this case, it won't be easy Louis."
