Chapter 3: Girls

Mads Pov
I wake up crying. I had another nightmare. It happens a lot almost everyday. My mom says it might be trauma but I'm not sure. I lay there for a minute then my alarm goes off. A few minutes later I get up and start getting ready. I walk to the bathroom and I put on some light makeup. I brush my hair. Then I grab this outfit and put it on.

I put on deodorant and perfume. I straighten my hair then I go downstairs. "You look beautiful honey" my mom says. "Thanks mom" I say back. She is getting ready to leave for work. I go up to her and hug her. "Bye mom love you" I say. "Love you too" she says as she walks out the door. I grab my bag and head out the door. I jump in my car and I breath in the fresh car scent. I then start driving and I stop at Starbucks first. I pull into the drive through and I order a bagel and an iced coffee. I park in the parking lot and eat and drink my food. Then I start driving to school. I jam out to some car pool karaoke. Soon I arrive at school. I get out and I grab my backpack from the back. I then walk into school. The hallways are crowded with everyone. Freshman, Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors. You move about .0001 miles an hour in these filled hallways. Soon I make it to my locker and I actually packed gym clothes this time. I grab my gym bag and binder then I head to homeroom. I sit in the back of the room in the very corner. I don't really talk to a lot of people. I see a group of girls walk in and they give me a dirty look. One girl comes up to me . She's a brunette with hazel eyes. "Uhm I just wanted to let you know Jaden is off limits! He is mine! No one else's" she says. I just laugh. "Just go sit down" I say rolling my eyes. She huffs in my face then goes and sits by her friends. They start secretly vaping. I roll my eyes at them. A little while later the bell rings and everyone files out of the classroom. When I get to the hallway the girl pushes me to the ground. "Oops sorry I slipped" she said while laughing and walking away. I start picking up my stuff and I see someone helping me. It's Jaden. "oh hey." I say quietly. "hey" he says giving me a very friendly smile. He helped me up and he walked to gym with me. In gym we played dodge ball and I was on the opposite team as Jaden. I tried getting him out but he got me before I could. I just laughed. Soon gym was over so I went to the locker rooms and changed. That's when she came up to me again. "I warned you and I wont warn you again!" She says. "Can't you just not pick on someone for one second" I say back. "Actually no because the only one that matters here in this situation is me!" She says. I have no idea what happened but I snapped. I hated mean girls. I jumped on top of her and punched her face. She punched back. We were fighting when a security guard ran into the locker room and pulled me off her. "Your coming with me young lady" the guard said. She grabbed my stuff and carried it. I walked in front of her. As I was walking out I saw Jaden. I kind of felt ashamed but it also felt good. He just shook his head no while smiling. The security guard took me all the way to the office and she put my stuff down at a table and I sat in a chair. Then thankfully Ms. Ash came and sat down. "Hey Mads I didn't expect to see you here on the second day" she said. "Yeah I'm really sorry it's just I can't stand when people make fun of me anymore it just hurts" I say. "I get it but violence is never the answer" she says. "I know I'm really sorry Ms. Ash" I say looking down. "Look we all go through struggles but if your ever feeling sad or angry just ask to come down here me and you could chat if you want any time" she says. "Okay" I say. "I'm sorry but I have to give you detention. It's better than a suspension" she says. "okay" I say looking down. "Detention for two days and I'll have to have a few words with Kate" she says winking at me. "Thank you" I say and she nods her head. I grab my stuff and the bell rang for second hour. I walk down the hallway and everyone just looks at me like I'm crazy. I roll my eyes and go to my locker. I open it and throw my gym bag and detention slips in it. I keep my binder. I close my locker and I turn to my left and I see Jaden. "Jeez you scared me" I say. "Sooo what did you do this time" he says giggling and we start walking. "That Kate girl was messing with me and i dont know I just snapped and then I jumped on top of her" I say. "Jeez and you were worried about me" he says while giggling. He stops walking and so do I "Jeez your eye is swelling why don't I take you to the nurse"he says. "Alright" I say. I follow him to the nurses office. "Hello Mr. Hossler what can I help you with today" the nurse asks. "Well my friend here needs help with her eye" he says. "Hm I see Take her to my room and I'll be in there in a minute" the nurse says. "Okay" he says. He takes me to the back room and I sit on the hospital style bed. Jaden sits on the chair next to the bed. Soon after the nurse comes in and she hands me an ice pack. She ices my eye but then gets a person in the office so she has to leave for a second. Jaden holds the ice for me. "Let's make a deal" he says. "Okay what's the deal" I say. "No more fighting because we don't want to scare each-other" he says. I just giggle. "Deal" I say and shake his hand. It's the first time I've ever touched his hand before. It made me happy. We chatted a bit before the nurse came back in. "Alright sweetie that's the best I can do for you!" She says. "Thank you" I say. "It's second hour so I'll give you passes" she says. "Okay" me and Jaden say at the same time then we laugh. We thank her and leave. We walk down the hallways. "Did you really mean the word friends" I say. "Yeah of course we're friends even though it's been two days" he says and I laugh. "Sorry I'm just not used to having friends you know" I say. "Yeah I can definitely relate" he says. "Anyways I'll walk you to your second hour" he says. "Okay" I say and we stop at my locker to get my science folder. Then he walks me all the way there. I thank him and he stares at me for a second before getting snapped back into reality. I go into my class and hand the teacher the note.
*skips to lunch*

I grab my food like usual and I go back to the hallway. I don't see Kate anywhere. She probably went home. My left eye is still swollen. It's also purple which is not fun at all. I eat my food then I throw it away. I go and sit back down. I feel someone sit next to me so I look over and I see Jaden. I smile at him. "How are you feeling" he asks. "Eh I could be better" I say. He smiles at me. "Come on I have to go to my locker" I say standing up and pulling him up with me. We walk to my locker. I open it and he stands behind me. I grab out my hair brush and brush my frizzy hair from the fight. "You missed a spot" he says grabbing the brush and starts brushing the back of my hair. "Thank you" I say turning around and smiling at him. He hands me my brush and I put it back in my locker. I grab out my folder for my next class. I then close my locker and turn around. Jaden is looking at me. "Come on" I say breaking the silence. We walk side by side and he takes me to my next class. The bell rings in one minute so he says goodbye and I stand outside the door while he rushes to his class before the hallways fill with people.
*skips to end of day*

I have detention after school so I walk to my locker and get the slips and grab my backpack. I go to the classroom it says to on the slip. I walk in and see two other people. I don't know them. I sit in the back corner of the room and listen to the sounds of kids screaming and talking. I lay my head down on the table and I hear someone walk in. It's Jaden. I was confused. He saw me and acted normal so the teacher didn't suspect anything. He walked over and sat next to me. "What are you doing here" I whisper quietly. "The fight yesterday remember" he said. "Oh yeah" I say back. We sit there quietly so we don't get separated. The teacher turns on this dumb video about self control and rules. It was boring. I look over at Jaden and he is practically falling asleep. I giggle at him and he looks over at me. He turns red. I signal him to be quiet.
*skips to after detention*

Detention is finally over. We all are quiet as we walk out to the hallway. It's 4pm. I cant believe that was an hour long. Jaden and I walk out in the hallway and we cheer. "Jeez that was boring" I say. "Yup it always is" he says. I giggle. We walk out of the school. "Well goodbye Jaden!" I say. "Wait! Can I get your number" he asks. "Yeah sure it's *** *** ****" I say. "Alright thanks" he says playing with the hairs on his neck. "talk later?" I ask. "Definitely" he says. "Alright bye" I say. "Bye" he says. We both walk separate ways. I get to my car and pull out. I start driving home. Soon I make it to my house and I walk in the front door. I see my mom. "Omg honey what happened" she said running up to me. "Oh uh I got into a fight" I say looking down. "Madison Lewis I told you how I feel about fights" she said loudly. "I'm sorry mom" I say. "I made dinner. Please no more fights honey" she says. "I won't" I say. I grab some dinner and eat it while my mom is in her office. I finish dinner and I clean my plate and I go upstairs and put on a swim suit. I grab my phone and go downstairs to the pool. I swim for a little then I go to the hot tub. My phone buzzes so I look at it. It's Jaden.
Jaden
JA: Hey it's Jaden.
MA: oh hey Jaden.
JA: hey do you wanna FaceTime?
MA: Of course!
*chat ended*
*face time call started*
"Oh hey are you in a pool" he asks. "Well actually it's a hot tub but close enough" I say and we both laugh. We talk for a while and I take him upstairs with me while he was on the phone. "Hey I have to take a shower so do you want to stay on the call and wait or do you want me to hang up" I ask. "I can wait" he says and smiles. I smile back and I leave him on my bed while I go to the bathroom. I take a quicker shower so I don't leave him waiting for too long. I got out and put on some Grey sweats and a black cropped tank top. I brushed my hair and let it air dry. I go back out to my bed and I grab the phone and scare him. "HIIII" I yell. I hear him scream. "You scared me!" He said. "That was the point dummy" I say. We start laughing. He's was playing video games but he stopped to talk to me. I went under my covers and turned on my tv. "Whatcha watching" he says looking at me through the phone. "I have no clue yet any suggestions" I ask. "Hmm you should watch The Notebook it's like the best movie on Netflix" he says. "Definitely I'm going to watch it Wanna watch it with me" I say. "Yeah I'll try to look through the screen" he says. I face the phone records the tv and start the movie. We talk a little then watch the movie. A little while later the movie ends and I flip the phone back to me. Jaden is still awake. I check the time and it's 10pm. I'm a little sleepy. I prop the phone on a pillow facing me so he could see my face down to my stomach. We talked about a lot of stuff. He was listening to music when I felt myself slowly fall asleep to the sound of his quiet music and his voice.
