This was the 'idea' I had! The one about Lily and James being in a coma.
Also I did hardly any research for this soooO
Harry had always been told his parents were dead, no one really understood why. Maybe it was because his aunt and uncle were muggles who couldn't go to St. Mungos or because they really couldn't care less.
It wasn't until Harry turned eleven he found out about his parents. Thanks to Hagrid.
Harry shook his head at Hagrid. "No, no. You're joking. They're dead." Hagrid said nothing and just patted his back, reminding him that they didnt have time to visit them now.
He went through all of his first year knowing he'd be able to see his parents, even though they weren't conscious, at least they were breathing. It was something that motivated him, whenever he landed in the hospital wing it would remind him of them.
At the station instead of his brat of an Uncle meeting him, there was a St. Mungos worker. They introduced themself as Andie McAllister, one of the people in charge of his parents at St. Mungos. They then told Harry that they was here to take him to see them. Harry nodded nervously.
It intrigued Harry how he walked through the window of a closed shop to get to the lobby. He didn't expect it to be as empty as it was, being a magical hospital he thought it would be full of injured witches and wizards, or at least visitors.
"This way," Andie told him, leading him up a corridor towards stairs. After a total of too many stairs they reached the ward where the Potters lay. "On you go," they encouraged with a smile, seeing Harry hesitate.
Harry slowly walked into the room, a nurse was checking something on her clipboard. As soon as she saw Harry she smiled. "Its nice to see you Mr. Potter," she said. "I'll be going now, have a good visit! Oh, and Mr. Potter? Feel free to come back any day." Harry nodded and went to sit in the chair in the middle of the two beds.
Harry took his mum's hand. "..Hey.." he stroked her hand. "This is weird. Real weird... But it's a good weird, promise! I," he paused, wiping a tear from his eye. "Sorry. Aunt Petunia told me you died, wasn't until Hagrid came to get me..." he trailed off.
Harry looked over to his dad and smiled half heartedly. "...nice hair." He picked up glasses from the table beside his bed, figuring they were his Dad's. Fiddling with them he let his eyes wander the room, taking it all in.
He immediately noticed a framed picture on the wall, curious he went to investigate. The picture was of Lily, James and a baby in a Rudolph costume. James was grinning while holding up his son, while Lily was laughing. Smiling sadly he put his dads glasses back on the table. "I'll be back."
And he was, though his next visit wasn't possible for another year.
"Hey," harry said as soon as he stepped into the room.
The same nurse as before was checking their vitals (?). "Mr Potter," She smiled. "I have news."
Harry's heart skipped a beat. "You do?"
She nodded. "We had a visitor in yesterday - what was his name?.. Remus? Anyway, he came into talk to them and your father here, smiled." Harry grinned. "Meaning that he is getting better." She paused, and gave Harry finger guns. "I'll be back in an hour to check on them again." She stood up and left.
Harry was left alone grinning, but also curious. Who was this Remus and why did he make his dad smile? Maybe they were old friends? Saying as Harry knew barely anything about his parents and their life, it was a pretty big possibility.
