Chapter Five

Snowfrost nodded, agreeing with Silverpelt. Then froze, "You're due dates are close?!" He asked them as he looked at Spiralriver. Spiralriver nodded. "I can give birth at any moment right now." She mewed. "Let's get back before someone spots us." She said as she started padding back. Silverpelt walked after Spiralriver gesturing for Snowfrost to follow, "Thank you for agreeing to come." She smiled while padding to the meadow slowly. Snowfrost nodded. "I have a new and more important job to do now." He said as he looked at Spiralriver. "I need o be a great father and to protect my mate." He vowed to protect his mate and soon to be kits. Kestrelflight was waiting at the entrance, anxiety pricking at his pelt as they were not back yet and he was getting worried. Sunray walked over to him. "Hey, you alright?" He asked Kestrelflight. Kestrelflight shook out his pelt, "It's nothing, it's just bothering me that they aren't back yet. What if something happened?!" He asked obviously worried and scared. Sunray nudged him. "I'm sure they will be fine. I bet they are on their way back right now." He mewed before walking off to leave Kestrelflight alone once again. Kestrelflight nodded as he relaxed a bit. A group of cats came toward him with fresh kill. "We're back with food." They had managed to mew and padded past Kestrelflight putting it beneath what will be called the high rock. Spiralriver skipped as they were close and seen Kestrelflight. "Hi Bubby!" She giggled before halting real quick as a sharp pain shot through her, she yelped. "I think her kits are coming!" Silverpelt yelled in stress slowly watching the cat who seeming in strong pain. Snowfrost rushed to her side, slowly walking her inside the camp. He walked her to the newly made medicine den. "Where is the medicine cat?!?" He growled. Kestrelflight followed after except he waits outside the den. "That would be Berkshire." He mewed as Berkshire then came over, rushing. "Should I get the stick?" SIlverpelt asked hastily still stunned, she was with kits almost at the same time as Spiralriver. 'Does this mean that I'll have my kits soon?' She wondered scaredly. Kestrelflight walked over to Silverpelt. "No, let someone else get it. It might your turn soon and I don't want to risk you going out there and having this happen." He mewed to his mate. Berkshire yowled, "Fireeyes! Give this to Silverpelt!" He called as he laid out Thyme. He continued to work on Spiralriver. He laid poppy seeds in front of her, "Eat these!" He ordered as he had a stick already for her to bite on. He gave her the stick. Fireeyes grabbed the thyme and gave it to Silverpelt who chewed it lightly, she began to feel calmer.

Spiralriver panted as she licker her 4 kits that she had loved dearly. Snowfrost waited outside, waiting to be called in. It has been an hour since she began and he wanted to see her since it went quiet. Berkshire yawned, "You can come in now Snowfrost." He called as he went to his nest. Snowfrost walked in and saw his mate with 4 kits suckling at her belly. He purred lovingly, happy that he could see his kits and mate. Silverpelt watched the 5 beautiful kits. Silverpelt slowly looked at Kestrelflight. "I'll be like that one day." She whispered. Kestrelflight nodded, "Very well." He smiled. "I can't wait, you'll be an amazing mother." He smiled bigger and nuzzled her. Silverpelt nuzzled back passionately and purred loudly as she looked at the starry sky, it was just about an hour until moonhigh. "I'm gonna sleep a bit." She yawned. "Go ahead, I'll keep watch right outside the nursery, therefore i cannot sleep." Kestrelflight mewed and nuzzled her back. Silverpelt rested her head in the nursery and slept. A bush rustled, Kestrelflight swiftly and quickly rushed his head toward where the bush rustled. He crouched protectively in front of the nursery. A bunny jumped out as Silverpelt breathed, the bunny saw Kestrelflight and ran off. Kestrelflight sighed in relief and relaxed as he sat down, still guarding. Snowfrost was guarding the medicine den protectively as he was now even more protective now that the kits were born. Silverpelt breathed before she opened her eyes as it narrowed at a sudden pain, she hissed loudly. Kestrelflight whirled around as soon as he heard the hiss. "Silverpelt? Are you alright?" He asked his mate as he walked into the nursery. Silverpelt was moaning loudly as she clawed the ground, "THE KITS ARE COMING!!!!" She yowled at the top of her lungs. Kestrelflight's eyes widened. "Oh fox!" He gasped as he yelled for Berkshire. "BERK! HER KITS ARE COMING!!" Berkshire grabbed everything he needed for this birth and rushed over to them.
