Idara
*******
As I stared at Chika, mall the memories of what she did to me came back, the incubus I had... everything, it came flowing back in full speed, everything flashed through my face, one after the other but in a quickening speed that made me jerk my head forward.
No, no, no, no, no, this isn't the place to have a panic attack..I kept on telling my body but it won't listen.
Since Luke was sitting beside me, I grabbed his hand for support, he turned and when he noticed my state, he immediately knew that I was about to have a panic attack.
"Look at me, Idy, look at me."
I tried my best, I tried pulling my eyes off of Chika but they seemed to want to stay glued to her but I had to do it, I didn't want a panic attack because that will led to taking sleeping pills and I don't want that.
I squeezed my eyes shut. I had to think of something, anything apart from Chika's face.
I opened my eyes once more and was met with worried glances from my friends.
"Are you okay, besty?" Kate asked.
"Yeah, I think I'm okay." I totally forgot about the panic attack I almost had, I was now fully concentrated on talking to my friends, I didn't want to see her face again.
Like seriously, it could make one puke, though she was pretty, Idara couldn't deny that fact. Chika was so pretty but when she squeezes her face, she looks like an unhappy gorilla...no offense, I'm just speaking my mind.
She walked out to get her food, my eyes just couldn't stop looking at her, my brother gave my have a tight squeeze telling me everything was going to be alright.
I nodded and finally decided to stop looking at her, I wouldn't let her ruin my mood.
But when I heard tray drop on our table, I was curious because my head was done the whole time, I felt the boys tense up beside me and Luke shifted his chair closer to mine.
Without looking up, I already knew it was Chika.
She was just doing all of this to get a reaction from me, but I wasn't going to succumb to her, not today.
I've already had enough of her.
Her extremely high-pitched voice filled the air, "Hey Luke, could I sit here?"
What happened to your table, idad (Mad girl).
"No."
"Huh, why?"
She had always had a major crush on Luke, everyone knew that and way back, he had started to fall for her too, but when he discovered what she did to me, all his feelings for her vanished, puff, into thin air.
Since then, she had been trying everything in her power to get Luke to like her again. She even thought of bribing me just to get close to him, when she came with a proposal, I almost laughed my ass off.
If you sabi wetin she tell me, this girl say make I just talk to my brother concerning her, she talk say make I find way for my brother to like her, if I fit do that small thing, she go stop bullying me (Do you know what she told me, she said that I should talk to my brother on their matter, I should find a way to get my brother to like her back just like before, if I was able to complete the task, she would stop bullying me).
Honestly, does she think I would ever do anything for her in this lifetime, not even in my next life. In fact, I don't plan on meeting someone as despicable as her any where any day.
For me, I strongly believe that she's not meant for my brother, I mean just look at her, no offense but my mom would just reject her the moment she set her eyes on her.
One thing Chika doesn't know about herself is that her mind is just like an open book, almost everyone can read her, if you really take time to observe her.
She's not that far from an evil queen or the Queen of the Coasts in all those Africa magic movies.
Ndisebe (Nonesense).
"Don't you get it, I don't want you to sit here!"
Chika should better leave now, it's for her own good.
"Why Luke? What have I ever done to you?"
"What have you done to me? You seriously have the audacity to ask me that, have you forgotten what my sister went through because of you? Do you know what she's going through because if you? Can't you see? Are you that dumb Chika?"
"I...but I..."
"I used to like you, no, let me say, I used to love you, I thought you were the perfect girl for me, but what did you, you broke my trust and now you expect me to take you back like nothing ever happened, ukid ke mkpodien (You've not seen something yet). Please just leave my table, I'm asking you politely, just leave before I lose my temper and before you lose the little respect I have for you."
His tone was harsh, cold, commanding, even I would leave immediately but Chika still stood there."I love you Luke, always did, always will."
She walked away to her table.
She loved my brother?
Akwa love.
Where was that love when she hurt me that way?
Where was that love when she beat me up so mercilessly?
Where was that love when I was continuously begging her to stop torturing me?
Where was it?
It's true what they say, 'You never know the true value of something until you lose it', and I guess that's what happened to her.
Maybe she truly regretted everything she did, but I can't be so sure. What if this is all an act, a pretence so that she could get back into Luke's life and in that way into the lives of all my family members as well and one day, no....
What am I saying?
She can never do that?
Would she be able to stand Papa Idara, she has not met my father before, when she does she'll understand life, she'll run with her slippers in hand.
I pity that girl...
I believe in the saying, "The evil that men do, stays with them."
Evil no finish for that girl's body, she wants to ruin my brother, forgetting that he has a lot of guardian angels protecting him.
I'm not scared of her, but scared of what she might do to me, the experience I had was horrible, I can't have that again.
I've said my own...I don't trust that wolf in sheep's clothing.
