Mirabel got our early exit slips from the principal, since we were just carrying a few books and what we would wear when coming back, we were ready to go.Luke being the senior that he is stole the front seat from Faith, when she had made it clear to all of us that she wanted to sit there, it was her loss, she would have guarded it, but as always she was busy with her phone.
Ahmed and Joshua were walking in front of me, I was the last to reach the car. I was about to enter the car when Ahmed caught hold of my wrist.
Ohhh... warris it again (What is it again).
I turned to face him, raising an eyebrow up, motioning him to speak.
"Can I talk to you, in private?"
What's it with people talking to me? And in private? Couldn't he just say it here???
"Okay, alright, but please be quick."
We walked away, a few inches away from the car, where he was sure no one could hear us.
"So, what do you want to talk about?"
"Nothing."
Did he just say nothing??? He dragged me away from my sweet haven just so he could say nothing??? This guy don mad (He's had gone crazy).
"Then I'm going na." I started walking away from him but he caught my wrist again and turned me to him.
Getting irritated with his behavior, I asked, "Kanu bukatar taimako?" (Do you need help?)
"Eh." (Yes). He was busy smiling at me, I don't have time for him, besides, Mira's in the car, he should hurry ni.
"With what??"
"Nothing."
It was funny...it's very funny, can you image this boy??? Doesn't he know? I want to go home, abeg, I don't even have his time again...
"Ahmed Yusuf ibrahim."
"Idaraobong Ini Johnson?"
"Tsaya (Stop), I'm going, bye."
"Bye."
I walked away from him, nonesense Hausa boy, see his head, after my brother will say that he's my friend.
God forbid!
That boy? My friend??
God forbid bad thing! So that he'll finish all the energy I have in this small body nn...never!
Getting to the car, I immediately got in the back and sat down, not wanting to talk to anyone right now.
Normally the drive from Uyo to Eket was approximately an hour, depending on how fast the driver is, but because Faith wanted to chill in Uyo small, as she said, Mira had to stop at Crunchies, a popular fast food.
She ordered for us and we got a take away, Luke and I got jollof rice, obviously...Mira went for meat pie and coke while Faith, being the kid she is got donuts, Dr. Pepper and three plates of ice-cream, I wonder how she was going to finish that when she barely even ate anything but then she handed one to Luke and gave me the other.
So thoughtful... meanwhile, Mira wasn't even complaining, she had money to squander, thank God tomorrow is Saturday self, she's taking me out, no joke, let's just hope Papa Johnson let's her.
Papa Johnson...I can't wait to see that man nnn...
At least I made it as the first in my class, he'll let me have some freedom.
Faith on the other hand, I'm not so sure. She took fifth... she's going to have a lecture later on, but as for now, let me enjoy my sweet jollof rice.
Opening my take-away plate, I let the mouth-watering smell of my rice seep into my nostrils, as I was about to take a scoop, my phone rang, making me stop in my tracks.
I groaned, covered back the food and picked up my phone, it was Ahmed, great! Leave it to that Hausa boy to spoil my mood.
I picked up the call,"Mine ne Ahmed???" (What Ahmed?)
"Abeg, calm down ni, you wan kill me?"
"If I sabi kill person, I for kill you, wetin be your problem na?" (If I knew how to kill someone, I would have killed you, what is your problem?)
"Ahh, can't a guy talk to his friend?"
Is this boy mad?
E be like say nut don remove from his head, me? Him? Friends.
I could help the laugh that escaped my lips.
"Ahmed?"
"Idara?"
"I will see you after the midterm break."
"Huh? Why?"
"Bye."
I hung up...I'll deal with him later, right now, I had more important things to do, like getting back to my rice. I'm sure it misses me.
I dropped my phone and came face to face with Faith, "What is your own now?"
I was getting annoyed, why can't a girl eat her food in peace.
“Who were you talking to just now?”
Abi this girl did not her when I said Ahmed's name or she just wants to annoy me.
“Leave me alone ooo, let me eat my food.”
I heard her mutter something but I'm not in the mood to ask her anything.
Picking up my good again I let the mouth-watering flavours invade my tongue while listening to some Joeboy jams.
