It was now the day after the dance. Lila and Alex both came over in the morning while Quinton and I were just waking up.

"Ok so whats the plan for today" lila asked looking at her phone

"surfing?" Quinton suggested

"lets check the weather"

I reached over to my nightstand and grabbed the remote to the TV. I turned it on and searched around for the weather channel.

"skies are looking fairly clear right now but not for much longer. We are seeing what looks like has potential to be a rough hurricane off the coast of californa. We recommend boarding up windows and taking percaution for the damage to come"

We all looked at each other in shock. There weren't usually bad storms around here but this one sounded serious.

"well I guess surfing out" lila said

We I went downstairs to tell my mom, she already seemed to know. She was getting ready to start board some of the windows.

"is this storm really going to be that bad?" I asked her

"it seems like it. They have been tracking it for a while now and it looks to be heading right toward us."

I went back upstairs to everyone else who looked somewhat worried. I glanced back over to the TV noticing a bold red bar at the bottom of the screen reading 'severe hurricane warning'.

Lila and Alex both went home to help their parents with preparation. quintons parents were already working on their house, so he stayed with me.

"wanna go to the grocery store and stock up on snacks since we might be inside for a while" I asked

"sure lets go"

We went downstairs and went outside to my car. The skies looked pretty nice at the moment. I just assumed that the weatherman was overexaggerating, and that it wouldn't be as bad as they say it will.

We drove to the closest grocery store and grabbed a cart before going inside.

Quinton went a little overboard grabbing everything in sight. From cookies and chips to soda and candy.

"why do you need 5 boxes of cookies" I asked as he put them in the cart

"why don't i need 5 boxes of cookies" he replied with a smirk

We got some other essentials that our parents asked us to get, and then checked out.

As we were loading stuff into my car, i could notice they skies starting to get the slightest bit cloudy.

We arrived back at our houses and took everything we needed inside.

It started to get really dark outside really fast. Quinton gave me a kiss goodbye and ran back over to his place before things got worse. I flipped my Tv back on as it started to rain. It didn't seem  like a hurricane yet, just a really bad thunderstorm.

Minutes later as I was listening to the updates, the lights and power cut, and everything became dark.
