I scrambled down the stairs using my phone as a flashlight looking for my mom. She was rummaging through the drawers trying to find any battery-powered lights to use so we don't waste too much power on our phones. My mom handed me one and a went back up to my room. I texted Quinton to ask how he was doing

         Quin<3

You: power out

Him: duh

You: I'm going to go set up the generator outside before things get worse

Him: are you crazy! bruh its not safe

You: my mom doesn't know how to work it so I'm doing it

Him: whatever just be safe

I put on a pair of sweatpants and my raincoat and went downstairs. My mom got the generator out, but I had to go connect it to something outside.

I opened the door and dragged the machine behind me. I went as quick as I could while stumbling with connecting the pieces.

I hadn't realized how nad it had gotten until I was at the point where I couldn't see in front of me. I was drenched and couldn't tell what direction to walk in, not to mention the wind had increasingly picked up. I started walking in hope of going back to my house or quintons, but everything soon became a blur.

                                Quintons POV

I watched avery from outside my window as she brought out the generator. I only saw her for a few moments before the rain got harder. I texted her after a few minutes checking on her to make sure she was good, but she never responded. My initial thought was that her phone died, but she was changing just before the storm started. I heard a loud noise from outside the house and started to worry. I put on a rain jacket and ran outside and over to her house. I went through the back door and saw her mother with a flashlight.

"is avery back yet?" I asked her mom worried

"what!? no! i though she was with you, she left her phone here"

"oh my god shes still outside" I said taking off running.

I couldn't see anything and was being pushed around by the wind. I yelled her name as loud as I could, but the storm was overpowering. I continued running and shouting until I was stopped. I tripped over something, something big.
