"i got you tulips"
he tells her when she
opens the door
and she laughs
she thanks him with
a kiss and wraps her
thin arms around him
she tells him that
she's been counting the
passing time by him
like when she saw him
last and when
he'd be coming back
like how the mayans counted
the passing time
by the sun
he asks where her parents are
it's something he's been meaning
to ask
and she tells him her mom isn't
around much and her dad left
a long time ago
in reply he tells her that he'll
never
ever
leave
that he'll be around as long as
she'll have him
but she knows better than to
believe him when all he ever
does is leave
it turns into a frustrated
conversation full of brokenhearted
words and exploding stars
and supernovas of hurt feelings
finally he runs a pale hand through
his hair and asks
why don't you just come
with me then if you think
i can't stay
she tells him that it's the stupidest
thing she's heard
but he is her
north star so
after she calls him
stupid she kisses him
and she says yes
and follows her north star
home
