Courtney fell into nothing but darkness. An abyss, a void. Everything and nothing. A few seconds later, she was brought back to her own reality. It was all a dream.

--

"Ah!" Courtney yelled out. She quickly looked at her surroundings, soon realizing it was all a dream, and nothing but a dream. Courtney's heart was beginning to slow down, returning to a relaxed state. "All a dream..." she said under her breath, reassuring herself. She blinked, then saw the last image of Damien she saw in her dream. All she did was stare at it, tears starting to form. What if I really did hurt him? Did I hurt anyone from Saturday night? She couldn't think straight anymore. That dream really took a toll on her. She wiped the tears away and rubbed her eyes, the image disappearing from her head.

Courtney needed to talk to someone about this. She figured that she would talk to Olivia at work during lunch. She looked at the time displayed on her phone, showing that she had 22 minutes before she would be late. She took one last deep breath and prepared herself for work.

She quickly got herself into a black tube top, a denim jacket, black high waisted pants, and topped it up with a red beanie. Courtney then ate breakfast and finished the rest of her routine.

For a majority of her day, she helped and pitched some ideas, talked with co-workers, the usual for these types of days. Then came lunch.

Courtney's POV

I invited Olivia to eat lunch with me earlier, and she agreed. Now it's lunch and I have to tel Olivia about last night's dream. Olivia approached me, smiling at me with her food in hand. Here goes nothing..

"Hey, Olivia," I greeted her with a cheerful smile on my face.

"Hi, Court," she responded. Olivia sat herself down in a chair across from me, setting her food down on the table.

"Could I talk to you about something?"

"Of course.", Olivia responded with a concerned look on her face.

"So, I had another dream an-" I said before being interrupted.

"Mhm. So did he do it again or something? Proposing, date, what?"

Our table became dead silent. Olivia quickly apologized, realizing it was something far worse. I continued on.

"So basically, it started off with me crying in my bedroom with Damien outside my door. It was really emotional, and we both just started to beat ourselves," I began, "beating ourselves, meaning just kind of dumping on ourselves and being mean to ourselves, not physically.", I added.

"It ended up in Damien heading back home, and we haven't reached the worst part yet. The next dream day, everyone had texted to ask if I was okay. Damien continued to try and apologize, and honestly it was just a lot. Shayne said that Damien was acting different and there were a few bottles around his bedroom. I believed that I had hurt all my best friends, and yeah. Then it ended there."

There was more silence, a very sympathetic look on Olivia's face. What did she think about this? Did I make a mistake? Then, she stood up. She paused for a moment, looking down at the ground. Maybe I did make a mistake.

She approached me, and gave me a tight hug. We hugged each other for what felt like ages, but I was okay with that.

Hugs may not seem like a lot, but to some people it can feel like everything.

After that, our days continued as normal. At the end of the day, me, Olivia, and Shayne hung out in the lounge. As usual, we talked about weird things we found, things we've done recently, etc.

"So it was like two in the morning and-" Shayne's words suddenly faded away. I looked over at Damien, my brain suddenly reminding myself of that date dream, completely ignoring the other one. A smile slowly appeared on my face, looking at his bright smile and listening to his adorable laughter. I then realized that Olivia was looking at me with a knowing look, and Shayne looking at me very confused. I quickly looked away, my cheeks turning a bright red. I turned in the opposite direction of Shayne and Olivia, staring down at my phone.

I looked through my photos again, then stumbling upon the one with me and Damien at the renaissance fair. I smiled at the photo, admiring it for a few moments. I wish that it could happen, but there's no way it'll happen. There's no way it can happen.

Damien is an amazing guy and all, but we're still co-workers and if we broke up it'd just be awkward. Besides, I highly doubt that we'll be allowed to have these sort of worker relationships. Maybe in another universe or even at another time, but not here, and not now.

Hello everyone! 2 am Cayla strikes yet again! Hope you're having a good month so far, even through all the chaos. If not, I hope that your month improves. Again, thanks for over 200 reads. I didn't exactly know what these past few chapters would be, but I'm pretty satisfied with them, and I hope you are too. Don't worry, it'll only get more interesting in the future. Just you wait.

As always, feel free to answer the QotC. If you feel like it, you can give me a follow and get notified about when a chapter is up. I've decided that 2+ chapters will most likely be posted every Friday. If not, please understand that I may be away, not have the time, or not be in the exact mood or have any good ideas. Thank you!

QotC #7: What do you think about Courtney's current situation with the Damien stuff?

As always, love you all!
