Arshiya
[Year 1 - Late October]
It takes me half an hour just to get through the front entrance of the farmhouse. It is unreal that the person who should be the center of attraction for the evening is left alone while I was bombarded by all kinds of douchebags with their cringe-worthy flirting.
Why?
I have been going to this school for months now. Why are they just now starting to bother the life out of me? I have never given any one of them the mildest impression that I am even remotely interested in them.
Roshan is sitting at one edge of a sofa, a chilled glass in one hand and his phone in another as he scrolls through his Instagram. I make a mental note to search him later. I did not peg him as the type to spend his time on the app.
Then again, I don't know him all that well and I do my best when possible to not go off of assumptions about people.
Stealing the glass from his hand for I have no desire for suffering round 2 of pathetic flirting, I take a seat next to him. He glances up sharply as if ready to snap the head of whoever dared to steal his glass. His eyes twitch the slightest seeing me even if he likes to believe he's got immense control over his facial expressions. "You."
I take a long sip and almost smile to myself on noting it's a nonalcoholic drink when I am sure he must have been giving everyone the impression that it is indeed alcohol.
"What are you doing here?"
I return the glass to him, "I needed that more, thank you." He takes the glass wordlessly, awaiting a response for he wasn't expecting me to show up. "I don't pass up celebratory parties. Even if I have to put up with some of the worst flirting that I have ever seen trying to get in and find you. Speaking of, congratulations."
After the very first time, I never went to watch another wrestling match of his - as I had made it clear to him. Doesn't mean I didn't keep up with the news. Don't get me wrong - I didn't have to go out of my way to know the updates. It was rather easy when more than half the school talked about it.
Tonight was the final match of the tournament. If my congratulations weren't clear, then to confirm, he won our school the trophy.
"There's state and national remaining." He replies, indicating that an inter-school tournament isn't a cause for celebration. If it wasn't expected for him to throw a party, he probably wouldn't be hosting this tonight.
Shaking my head, seeing how he is not finishing up the drink himself, I lean over to take it back. "Little wins matter, Roshan."
He shrugs his shoulder, remaining silent as I take another sip.
