Min Yoongi

"Ready to review the case, Boss," I reported while walking into his office.

"Come on, Yoongi, don't have to be so formal. We were friends before I got promoted. It's Namjoon to you."

My lips curled up slightly as I nodded.

"Alright, any updates?" he asked.

"The suspect hasn't made another move after the incident with Kim Taehyung."

"And updates on finding the suspect?"

"None. I've been reviewing the records of criminals Prosecutor Park was involved in, but everything led to a dead end."

Namjoon looked displeased, deep in thought.

"Maybe we're looking into the wrong things," I suggested. "He went as far as to attack his target's daughter's boyfriend. The suspect must have a more personal motive than just wanting revenge for being sentenced to prison."

"Hmm, well, we should ask—" Namjoon was interrupted by the door opening. "Prosecutor Park. Yoongi, I believe this is your first time meeting?"

"It's nice to finally meet." I gave him a small bow.

"I don't have much time." He gestured for me to sit. "Have you found who's responsible? All this nonsense has been very inconvenient for my work."

His work? I suppressed the urge to comment on his misplaced priorities.

"Not yet, but can you think of anyone you may have wronged in the past that would have a motive?"

"Of course not," he responded, slightly annoyed. "Are you so incompetent with your job you're questioning my ability to do mine? I have been nothing but fair in my prosecutive duties."

I could feel my eyes begin to twitch.

"I am doing my job, and I was referring to your personal matters—"

"I have no personal matters that would be of any concern to you. You're not even the head of the investigation, are you? Why don't you just focus on keeping my son safe, understood?"

"Actually, I'm your daughter's bodyguard."

He didn't even acknowledge my comment before standing up.

"I'm done wasting my time here. Mr. Kim? Don't call me back here unless you have real information to report to me." Neither of us said another word until he left.

"Well, he's a real bitch." Namjoon chuckled at my comment.

"Yeah, too bad his kids are suffering for whatever mess he may have caused. Are you gonna stay and work overtime?"

I debated for a while but eventually decided against it. I wanted to see Soomi and hear about how her meeting went.

"I think I'll pass for today."

"Alright," Namjoon said as I turned to the door. "Oh, and Yoongi?" His voice caused me to look back.

"Hmm?"

"Be careful out there."

I was on my way back to the house when my phone rang. I glanced at the screen, seeing it was Soomi.
