I finished washing up while Charles packed his bag for the flight tomorrow. I dried off my hands in my jeans as I walked up the stairs to our bedroom. Charles' suitcase laid out on the bed, half full of clothes. Charles looked up at me and took my hand.
"Sweetheart can we talk?" I frowned as he led me to sit on the bed. I started internally panicking, knowing what conversation usually comes after those three words.
"I think it would be better if you stayed here this weekend." I stared at him dumbfounded.
"Are... are you actually serious right now?" I said louder that I intended to.
"Baby-"
"No," I said standing up, "No baby, no sweetheart, no my love. You don't get it call me that right now. Why make this decision now?" I crossed my arms and watched him stare at his feet. "Well?"
"I don't like the way others look and talk to you," he said refusing to make eye contact with me. I opened my mouth but too many thoughts spun through my head for me to string a sentence together. I took a deep breath and cleared my throat.
"Do you not trust me?"
"No-"
"So your jealousy means I have it stay here guarded away?" My voice raising.
"(Y/N) please..." he said, finally locking eyes with me.
"No Charles it's fine. I hope you have a spectacular race." My voice dripping with sarcasm. I left the room and went into my gaming room. I sat down and put my head in my hands, taking deep breaths, refusing to let myself cry. After a while I decided to stream, I knew Charles wouldn't try to bring it up while I was live. I just needed time to cool down.
Just after midnight I ended the stream and shut my computer down. I sat in my chair for a moment, eyes fixed on the door. I wasn't angry anymore. I was hurt. I got up and walked upstairs, hoping he was asleep. I opened the door to see him in bed with his back to me. I looked down at his bag next to me and sighed. I grabbed my pyjamas and got ready for bed.
I slipped into the cotton sheets and stared at the wall, suddenly feeling wide awake. I felt Charles roll over, the bed dipping me towards him slightly.
"I'm scared that I'm gonna loose you to someone else," he whispered, almost choking on his words. I rolled over to be greeted with red puffy eyes replacing his big beautiful brown ones.
"I thought you trusted me?" He placed a hand to my cheek and took my hand in his other.
"I do, but those guys could be better, I know I shouldn't try and decided what can can and can't do. I'm sorry (Y/N), I-" I pressed a gentle kiss to his lips.
"You are so stupid. Maybe even more than Magnussen." His eyebrows furrowed, looking like a sad puppy. "I'm upset because I love going so I get to spend time with you. I only talk to politely to those men because they are your team and colleagues. I'm there for you stupid." He let out a small chuckle and I took his face in my hands.
"It's just you. Don't stress about it. I love you."
"I love you too."
We fell asleep in each other's arms and when I woke up there were two bags by the door waiting to go, a tray of pancakes on my lap and Charles cuddling up next to me.
"Eat up sweetheart, we need to leave in an hour or so," he mumbled into my neck.
"Thank you, I love you Charles." I pressed a small kiss to his head.
"I love you too sweetheart. Am I still stupid like Magnussen?" I chuckled and pressed a kiss to his lips.
"Almost."
