*Back in Claribel's castle walls, Gwaine's perspective*
-Stop resisting, it's useless. You are clearly outnumbered Lincon.
-I can see that, your Majesty, but not until I know she is safe!
-What a wasted talent. Take him away.
-Your Majesty! She has crossed the city walls, she has escaped!
-Then what are you doing here! After her, bring her back to me. Alive!
Lincon got beaten to the ground by the weight of all the guards, he was reluctant about giving in at first but as soon as he heard that she was out, he let out a sigh, I believed in relief and just gave in. Why was it that he was so desperate to help my maid run away? He didn't even hear what had happened so I was obviously going to have to question his actions... I may have treated her harshly and acted arrogantly but then she was nothing else other than my maid... Right..? Anyhow, my Father was moving away, and I needed to return to our previous discussion and act dignified, I was a Prince after all:
-Your Majesty, if any words get out about the brewing war--
-The other Kingdoms will arise and see an opportunity, I am well aware of that Alfred. She will not have the time nor chance to spread the information, or do you doubt my power as well?
-No not at all your brave Majesty, I trust in you.
-Very well, you are a good spy, continue your work. Gwaine, go find another maid for your services and deal with Lincon.
-Yes Father.
As soon as they had exited my chambers, I couldn't help but notice this gleam in our spy's eyes, Alfred was trusted by Father but I admitted to never trusting him. I paced around before taking a halt and thought to myself: what the actual fuck. I closed my eyes knowing it had already been an hour since all of this chaos had begun. I needed to get answers from Lincon. Why did he suddenly sacrifice the golden rules of knighthood for a maid with a title in her name which was, to be truthful, abnormal? I opened my eyes, took a decisive turn, and made my way to the dungeons.
On the way there, I was questioning many things to the point where my head started to ache. Why did he betray the Royal Family and his royal duties for her? Is she special to him? Did they have an affair or a secret relationship which was why he protected her? Or did he actually hear our discussion about the war as well? What is so special about her? In fact, why does she even have an honorific in her name? "Luna of Nightenghale". I recognised that name but I couldn't quite put my finger on it: where had I heard it before? And why was she the only one I knew with that name? Her arrival in Claribel was peculiar enough...
Due to my constant questioning and thinking, I hadn't noticed that I had already arrived in front of the dungeon's entrance. Obviously, I was noticed by the guards, they stood and saluted as usual. Pitiful, always doing everything automatically, did they ever do something that was according to their own will or hearts when I was around..? I guessed I would never know.
-I am here to interrogate Lincon, alone.
-Yes, your Highness!
They replied in unison. How long did it take them to get that up their sleeves: replying in unison? I scuffed. I stepped into Lincon's prison cell and noticed the hatred and mockery in his eyes glaring up at me. Such a great Knight, a worthy one, now sat in a cell for a maid, truly what the hell...
