*Draco pov*
I woke up with an awful headache. The night's events were foggy, but I remembered going to Blaise's and getting drunk, and also thinking how I should come out to Harry. Then the rest came back. Me telling Harry I liked him. Him taking me upstairs after I passed out on the couch, getting me to change into my pyjamas while he did his best not to look.
But he could take "I like you" any way, right? I hadn't just ruined this friendship because my feelings weren't reciprocated?
Still, I thought, I really should come out to him. We were friends now.
I opened my eyes, ignoring my headache, and turned over to Harry's side of the bed, gazing at the way his raven-black hair caught the light and his peaceful face. Almost in a trance, I made to trace the scar on his forehead, but caught myself just in time.
If I came out to him that would just make our whole sleeping situation really awkward. Better not.
Instead, I got up, dressed, fed Smokey, sorted out my hair and sat on my side of the bed, wondering if I should wake him up.
Eventually I decided that he was going to miss breakfast and I'd rather he had breakfast that me spending another hour watching him sleep.
Absentmindedly I brushed a strand of his jet-black hair away from his face. My hand lingered.
Suddenly he was stirring and I quickly snatched my hand back. But Harry was saying something.
"No... don't stop." He murmured.
But I couldn't bring myself to return my hand to his hair while I knew he was awake.
So, like the coward I was, I hurried down to breakfast.
*Harry/narrator pov*
The feeling of Draco's hand against Harry's forehead had left sparks in its wake, and now lingered like a phantom touch. He wasn't sure why he'd said that to Draco.
In fact, the more he remembered last night, the more his head felt like it was about to explode.
I like you.
Had he misheard? Imagined it? Misinterpreted it?
Well, he thought, let's look at the facts here. You probably don't say I like you like it's a huge thing when you're absolutely wasted unless you mean it romantically. But for Draco, he supposed, a platonic I like you was also a huge thing. Well, they were officially friends now...
Okay, so platonic was definitely an option, but what if it wasn't?
Draco's stormy grey-blue eyes rose, unbidden, to his thoughts.
Why was he thinking about Draco's eyes?
Come to think of it, where was Draco?
Harry glanced at the clock and realised with a jolt that if he didn't get his act together he'd miss breakfast. Throwing on his clothes, he hurried to the Great Hall where Draco was waiting at their table.
"Potter, what took you so long? I thought you'd never arrive!"
"Yeah, sorry about that. Guess I overslept." He shrugged apologetically. "So, the Felix Felicis should be done this morning. You ready for all your dreams to come true?"
*Draco's pov*
Ohhh dammit I was screwed. I wasn't sure how much Felix Felicis actually meddled with stuff and if Harry ended up kissing me and then later finding out he'd done it and not knowing why.....I took a deep breath. This was for educational purposes. And I needed to get a grip. It was liquid luck, not liquid mind control.
I managed to conjure a smirk. "Are you sure you're ready for my dreams to come true?"
"Wow, I was expecting something more along the lines of 'you sure it'll work, Potter?' but I'm glad you have that much faith in me, Draco. I hope you won't mind turning into a genie when it all goes horribly wrong."
"What's a genie?" Was this some Muggle thing? Like a- what was it- a television?
Harry rolled his eyes, though he couldn't help but smile a bit. "Purebloods."

I trailed behind Harry a bit as he made his way down the stone steps spiralling down into the gloom of the dungeons. Both excited and nervous, and also somewhat confused (what on earth is a genie?!), I couldn't decide how to feel. I mean- pure luck for the day! Great! But what if it went wrong or I turned into a genie or it made people do stuff they'd later regret? (Not naming any names here.)
I took several slow breaths, telling myself to relax. We entered the potions classroom, and there was the potion, bubbling away. Better just check.
I pulled Advanced potion-making out of my bag and quickly flicked through it, finding the page on Felix Felicis.
Felix Felicis, also known as 'liquid luck', causes the drinker to have a limited period of good luck, during which they are likely to to succeed in all endeavours in which success is possible. This is accomplished not through direct application of force or granting the drinker any extraordinary powers, but by inspiring the drinker with a favourable pathway through the circumstances.
I breathed a sigh of relief.
Harry was by his cauldron, inspecting the potion. He looked at me. "Ready?"
"Ready."
I took the small bottle he'd filled and carefully put three drops of it in my mouth, enough for 24 hours of good luck.
Instantly I felt an amazing, confident sensation, like I could do anything.
"Wow, Harry, this feels amazing!"
Harry went a bit pink. "You've never called me Harry before."
"First time for everything," I said with a tentative smile.
"I guess so." He grinned broadly.
"Hey," I said, struck by sudden inspiration, "do you want to stop by Honeydukes'? You know, since this potion was a huge success and all. I hear they've opened a little cafe out front."
His eyes widened at the mention of a cafe. "When do we leave? I could kill for a hot chocolate right now."
And so we walked into town together to celebrate his success.
