Jerome's P.O.V
"Great meeting today Mr. Oakes, I will enjoy working with you from now on." Mr. Owens stuck out his hand across the table.
"Same here, Mr. Owens. I'll be in touch with you soon so we can discuss this partnership further." I shook his hand, as he gave me a slight nod. I got up grabbing my papers and exited the room walking towards the elevators.
Another deal done. I thought as I pressed the up button. It's nothing new of course, it seems like it's a normal thing to get a deal done. I'm just that great. I heard a ding as he elevator doors started to open. I simply stepped inside, pressing my floor number, the doors closing in seconds.
"H-Hi Mr. Oakes." I turned my head to see two girl next to me blushing and smiling towards me.
"Hello Ladies" I said as I winked at them. The elevator stopped and the doors slid open. The two girls exited and waved shyly towards me. I smiled as the doors started close, my smile quickly dropping once they did. These girls at the office do and act the same way, desperate. Short skirts, cleavage showing, boobs hanging out, make up covering their faces. I've actually seen a nipple once.
The elevator came to a stop once again at the top floor. The doors slid open as I walked out. People greeted me, saying hello or good morning, and I greeted them back with my hand or a nod.
I would really like some coffee.
"Oh! Good morning Mr. Oakes, here is your morning coffee." Jessica, my assistant, pushed the paper coffee cup towards me. I grabbed it, and walked into my office. That's why she's my assistant.
"The Williams Industry is planning on calling you 11 'clock this morning. Plus you have two meetings at 2 o'clock and 4 o'clock this evening, both for a spread in the magazine." I sat down in my seat opening a file on my desk.
"Great. Call Nadia in printing, and ask how far they are with the next issue. Then call Kayli to see if we can move lunch to 12:30 instead of 2. Also ask if she's found a sitter for the dogs yet. And take these papers and make two copies." I said, handing them to her then I started working.
"Sure thing." She turned around walking to the door.
"Thank you." She closed the door leaving me in my office. That's the work of a CEO of a magazine. Oakes is the family magazine past down from my fathers father and so on. We promote other companies in the magazine to make them become known in the country.
Being the richest man in Los Angeles has it's perks. Being 23 and as handsome as I am, women seem to just fall to my feet. Most would say I'm a ladies man, which I was, but I've chosen to settle down with only one women; Kayli Monroe. She can be a drama queen at times, yes, but she's mine anyway.

"You got laid off?" Alissa asked as we walked to the cafeteria.
"Basically fired but they put it in a nice way by saying I'm getting laid off."
"That's pure bullshit!"
"Yea, I know." I laughed at how serious she was.
"What are you gonna do now?" She asked, we walked into the cafeteria walking into a lunch line.
"I don't know, my parents won't talk to me and they choose not to help pay for the tuition. Plus I have to pay for my dorm, food included...I just have to find a job and fast." I picked up a tray with pizza and went to the check out lane. I payed for my food and walked to a table.
"If you need money, just tell me-" Alissa said, sitting down across from me.
"No, you know that I hate to borrow money from people."
"Fine then until you get a job you have to promise to eat breakfast, dinner and lunch with me."
"Alissa, I know what your doing-"
"I'm not doing anything. Just promise me, and when you do you can't break it." I looked at her and sighed.
"Fine, but just until I find a job." She held out her pinky and I held out mine and we intertwined them.
Now where am I gonna find a job? I thought as I started to eat. Moments like these are where I hate my parents the most. They said that I shouldn't have left to go to a college out of my home town, Richmond, Virginia. My life was great down there and stuff, but I didn't want to feel stuck. They dreamed of me, going to college in Richmond, plus marrying in Richmond like they did. Marrying the black man they approved of. But I wanted to chose who I love and the life I live.
They got pissed at me and told me to just leave. So I did and came down to the college in LA, that accepted me (UCLA). Taking the money that I had, I came down here hoping to become a successful business women in the future.
All I need is a job.
