Logan glances at the clock and saw that it read 07:30. Right on schedule. He cautiously climbed out of bed, worried he would wake Remus if he didn't. He shuffled over to his closet, pulling out a white dress shirt and a dark yet bright blue bow tie. He then grabbed a pair of black pants and his similarly colored suspenders from the drawers at the bottom of his closet.
He dressed himself and made his way to the kitchen to fix himself a breakfast of eggs, cheese, tomato and ham sandwiched between two slices of rye toast. Halfway through cooking he heard a crash from his bedroom. Panicking, he ran in and discovered an equally frazzled looking Remus, hunched over beside the bed, head upside down while glaring under it."Remus?" Logan called, causing the prince to bolt up and grin at him. He scrambled over to Logan and tackled him to the floor in a hug.
"Logie!! You're okay!" Remus giggled happily. "I thought you ran away like Ja-" The prince cut himself off, going pale. Logan raised an eyebrow, worming his way out from under Remus.
"I won't pry if you don't wish to elaborate, but who is 'Ja-'?" Logan asked, crossing his legs and folding his hands neatly in his lap. Remus sat on his feet and sighed softly.
"Um...Well, er...He uhm..." Logan cut him off by placing a hand on his knee and using his other to tilt Remus's chin up to look him in the eyes.
"If it makes you uncomfortable, do not go on. If you are comfortable, go ahead." Logan's voice was gentle yet firm, maintaining eye contact with Remus. "I know as well as anyone that forcing someone to talk about something they're uneasy about speaking about only leads to at least one party feeling terrible."
Remus nodded a bit, his eyes drifting down. Suddenly, he lit up and bounced to his feet. He ran into the living room and climbed on top of the coffee table. "We should play together today! Like go and observe animals we find in the woods and stare at flowers and then fall asleep in trees looking at the stars! Oh! Oh! Did you know that I know a lot about the stars? Like a lot a lot. I can give you a reading! When were you born?" He rambled, Logan struggling to keep up.
Logan sighed and smiled sadly. "As much as I would love to do that, I have to go to classes and then work until 11:30 tonight. We can likely go out to the woods and have lunch after my classes since I have an hour between when I get back from them and when I need to get ready for work." Remus pouted and huffed.
"That's stupid." He grumbled before his face lit up. "I know! I can just come with you!" Logan chuckled and sighed. "I don't like that reaction..." Remus mumbled as Logan went into the kitchen to finish his breakfast. He turned the stove back on before speaking.
"I would love for you to be able to but you can't." Logan explained, earning a pouty whine from Remus. The prince huffed and puffed out his cheeks, crossing his arms.
"Why?" he asked, waddling over to Logan and placing his chin on his friend's shoulder, watching him cook. Logan ruffled Remus's already incredibly knotted and frizzy hair, his eyes not lifting from the eggs and sliced ham in the pan.
"It's against the rules. You can likely come on campus and wait in the study hall or outside the classroom but you cannot join me inside the classroom. As for work, I have a feeling you'd just distract me and people get incredibly snippety where I work when you aren't doing your job as well as the shift managers would like."
Remus gave a long sigh and slumped against Logan. "Fiiine." he whined, earning an amused chuckle from Logan. "What's so funny?" he huffed, pouting more.
"You're being a bit childish and it is slightly humorous." Logan hummed, turning off the burner and pushing the eggs into the center of the pan. He grabbed a slice of pepper jack cheese, placing it on the eggs before using a bowl to trap the heat and melt the cheese onto the egg. He gently pushed Remus off and prepared tomato slices and toast.
Logan prepared his sandwich, holding it between his teeth as he went to his room to grab his bag. He slung the messenger-bag-styled bag over his shoulder and returned to the main area. "
Would you like to come with me or would you prefer to stay here?" Logan asked. He then remembered it was Remus he was talking to and said "Actually, on second thought, you're coming with me. I'm not risking you starting a fire or breaking something or yourself." Remus's face lit up and he bounced happily in a circle.
Logan took off his bag and farted into his room. He grabbed a fairly large hoodie of his and a pair of long pants for Remus to wear as he was a much bigger person than Logan before returning and handing the garments to him.
"What are these?" The prince asked, taking the clothes.
"Pants and a hoodie. Go change please."
"Why-"
"Remus, change now, question later."
"Right."
Once on campus, Logan headed to class, giving Remus a 'Rubik's Cube,' an almost empty pad of sticky notes, a pencil, and an eraser before he went inside. Now Remus was left in the hall on a shiny wooden bench, kicking his feet as he messed with the brightly colored 'Rubik's Cube,' trying to aline the colors like Logan said he was supposed to.
After what felt like hours and many resisted urges to run inside and tackle Logan, trip someone walking by, or jump out of one of the many windows around him to explore the surrounding landscape, Logan, and many other students, emerged from the classroom. Remus leapt to his feet and grinned.
"Log-!" He started but Logan gave him a look that conveyed that now wasn't the time for loudness or nicknames. Logan approached Remus, looking stressed and quite anxious, causing Remus to worry. He took his new friend's hand and pulled him over to a deserted corner with a window he had found while looking around. He sat down, pulling Logan down too.
"Why are you-"
"Shush. You're...you're odd." Logan blinked, looking stunned. Remus quickly corrected himself. "Acting odd. Sorry." Logan nodded and Remus heard him cursing softly.
Remus hugged Logan gently and loosely, he leaned his head on his friend's shoulder and nibbled his shirt collar as he did. He rubbed gentle circles into Logan's back.
"Th-Thank you.."
"Of course!" Remus sat up and let Logan go, as the boy had tensed in his arms. Logan smiled a bit at Remus before wiping away the tiny, sparkling tears in the corners of his eyes.
"Why are you so nice to me?"
"Why not be nice? You've been nice to me by letting me live with you and teaching me about how things are in this new world. I would be a stinky doo-doo bitch of a friend if I wasn't nice to you." This statement drew a snicker from Logan, an amused expression crossing his face. Remus grinned, ecstatic that he had made his friend feel better. The two sat together awkwardly for a few moments more.
"I have to go back to class now." Logan cleared his throat before speaking, earning a whine from Remus.
"But whyyyyy?" He asked, pouting. Logan sighed and smiled, standing up and pulling Remus with him towards his next class.
They didn't let go of each other's hands. But neither one minded. They felt safe after all.
