(TW: mostly same as last chapter, brief mention of implied sexual acts, lashing out at another character, Remus recaps what happened to him after the third separation bit)
hi guys :) sorry i haven't updated in so long. i haven't really had the energy to between school and stuff that happened outside of school. but i'll try to get more chapters out!
Remus felt horrid when he woke up, to say the least. His body ached, his limbs were swollen, his lungs burned, and he was still somehow exhausted. He wanted to fall asleep then and there but the ropes still tugging at his wrists and ankles reminded him he needed to get out quickly.
As far as he could tell the cloaked group hadn't done anything scandalous to him while he was unconscious, which was something he was incredibly relieved to discover, so he was safe in that front. For the most part...
Focus! Focus. He needed to focus now. If he didn't he might not make it out before the cloaked group returned.
And so he did the first thing he thought of:
Screamed.

"What do you mean you 'lost him?' You can't lose a grown man, Patton!"
"I turned around and he was gone, Logan, I lost him! I don't know where he is!" Patton retaliated. He knew Logan was freaking out but, gosh darn it, so was he!
"Well what the hell do you want me, to do about it?! I work minimum wage at a goddamn movie theater and am studying astronomy! Neptune and Tom Holland won't help right now!" Logan huffed, starting to pace back and forth behind the theater he worked at.
"I-I don't know! I panicked! I-I'm sorry, Logan!" Patton exclaimed, tears bubbling up into the corners of his eyes as his voice quivered. Logan paused and sighed.
"L-Look, Pat...You didn't do anything wrong...we'll find him, okay? Just for tonight...let's go home. They can't do too much damage to him in one night and we're both tired." He said slowly, making sure his words were carefully picked as to not upset Patton more. The other nodded and wiped at his damp eyes.
"Alright.." Logan told Patton to go back to the car and wait as he finished closing up the theater. He emerged from the now-dark theater around ten minutes later and climbed in beside Patton, causing hm to look up. God, he was glad he hadn't lost Logan too.
"Let's get you home, okay?" He said, rubbing his friend's shoulder. Patton nodded and gave Logan a weak and sad smile, the other returning a more comforting and gentle one.

Logan had arrived home fifteen minutes earlier and was now laying face up on his bed, limbs splayed out like a starfish. He stared up at the ceiling and huffed. It was so...so bland. He pushed himself up, grabbed his guitar and jacket, and walked up to the roof. He stared out into the city and sat in the corner of the roof area.
He stared up at the stars and placed his guitar beside him. For a while, he just sat there and stared upwards, gazing at the stars. He decided to play a song to unwind, picking up his guitar.
Logan strummed the strings for a few moments, checking his instrument was in tune. He began playing the first song he thought of: Drift Away from the cartoon Steven Universe. Gosh, hanging out with Xander so often really had an affect on him, didn't it? He chuckled lightly to himself as he realizes this.
Feeling more relaxed, Logan returned to his apartment, still humming the song softly as he did. He unlocked his door and went inside. Making his way into his room, he put away his guitar and took off his jacket, returning them to their spots in his closet.
Logan sat on his bed and picked up his phone to make sure his alarms were set. He and Patton had agreed to meet at seven the next morning as neither of them had class until ten the next day. He raised an eyebrow as he saw a message from an unknown number.
Unknown Number: hey lo. long time no see. how are you?
Logan: May I ask who this is? I don't appear to have you as a contact.
Unknown Number: damn really? i'm offended.
Unknown Number: it's janus. we dated in sophomore year and were friends for like 50% of high school?Logan: Oh! Janus, nice to see you again.
Logan: I'm sorry but I can't talk long. I have an abnormally early morning tomorrow. Can we talk more some other time?Janus: yeah ofc. sleep well.
Logan: Same to you.

Logan had to be coming for him, right? Remus had been sitting in the morning air for what felt like forever. He had tried many times to free himself from the ropes but ended up just giving himself nasty rope burns and making himself bleed a bit.
He looked up as he heard a rustling in the woods. He began squirming and trying to get to his feet to catch this person's attention.
"Hey, Hey! Over here! Help!" Remus yelled, still struggling to get to his feet. He saw someone appear in the tree line and simply stare at him. He appeared to have some kind of skin condition since parts of his face, arms, legs-frankly his everything-appeared to be much lighter than the rest of him.
The person quickly made their way over to Remus and untied him hastily. "Good god, what happened to you?" they muttered.
"I was kidnapped, knocked out, tied up beside a giant fire, nearly sacrificed by a cult, had sigils carved into every inch on my body, and I think they were gonna do something scandalous but I passed out before then so they might have had some decency-" Remus continued to ramble to the very horrified and very confused person who now sat in front of him.
"O-Okay, okay- I get it. What's your name, kid?"
"Don't call me kid, I'm centuries older than you. Wait- am I? Did you travel here through some weird tree too? Whatever, I'm Remus! Prince Remus Darwin Grove, at your service!" He quickly stood up and bowed deeply now that he was united.
"Uh- Janus, Student Janus William Carson..? Nice to meet you, your highness." His savior stood and bowed back awkwardly, clearly not knowing what he was doing.
"Oh! Sorry. Your modern culture is different from mine. You don't need to bow, I'm just used to doing it. Plus, you saved me so it's only right that I show you my respect." Remus explained with an amused laugh. "And trust me, Janus, the pleasure's all mine."
"Alright. Let's get you somewhere safe, Remus." Janus offered with a kind but somewhat mischievous smile, leading Remus to his car so he could take the lost boy to his house.

"Remus? Remus are you here?" Logan called, wandering into a clearing. He stared at the pile of ashes and charred logs in the center of a circle of sigils and writings and splatters of mysteries dried liquids. He spotted a pile of ropes beside the burnt pile and realized what this was.
"Patton! Patton, we have to go, now!" Logan yelled, running to find his search partner. This is bad. This is bad. This is so, so bad.
