PART 3

"It's been 2 weeks since Una-Vaatu wreaked havoc on Republic City. It created a huge energy shift, something that hasn't ever been felt. There are vines everywhere, and the spirits have made the little vine wilds their home. I don't have anything against spirits, but the vines are annoying."

Korra attempted to get rid of the vines but to no avail. No matter what she did, she couldn't make them go away. After two weeks, Ally was healed and back to normal, she returned to her duties on the police force alongside her mother.

"Seriously?" Ally asked as she pulled her boots on. "Why am I being forced to go to a meeting of the president who hates my guts?"

"Because it's your job," Lin replied, pulling back Ally's hair. She was trying to smooth it into a bun, but it wasn't cooperating. "Jeez, kid, what's with your hair." But she succeeded with a little bit of water and an elastic. She secured the knot at the base of her daughter's neck and leaned back.

"Thanks," Ally touched the knot gently. She got in the car as her mom drove to the press conference. She stood on the president's right side, next to Lin as Raiko addressed the press. Ally put her hands behind her back, standing tall, she tried not to zone out. She started to stare into space when a gust of wind snapped her out of her thoughts. Korra touched down across the stage, her glider in one hand and hair in its usual 3 ponytails.

"Avatar Korra! Avatar Korra!" The press called out from all directions. Since Korra was the one to vanquish Vaatu, pretty much everyone forgot Ally was the other avatar, and Ally liked it that way.

"Why are you forcing spirits and humans to live as one?"

"Do you regret anything?"

"Could you have handled the Una-Vaatu situation differently?" Reporter's fired off question after question.

"I've been trying to get rid of these vines," Korra stammered. "But nothing hm doing has been working. I need more time."

"Clearly," Raiko said, with a snarl on his lips. "This Avatar has put us in an... extreme position. While my administration-"

"Well, at least I'm going something," Korra chimed in. "Ally and I have been working our butts off, trying to get rid of these vines. And last time I checked you didn't destroy the pure evil that was going to vanquish the world. That was me, and Ally. So, jeez, I'm sorry if we put you in a bit on an inconvenient position."

"You haven't exactly been helping us," Ally said harshly. "You're too worried about your approval ratings. You expect me and Korra to do everything while you sit back and out your feet up."

"Alice!" Lin grabbed her daughters wrist and pulled her back.

"Maybe you and your administration can handle everything else then!" Korra walked up to Raiko and grabbed his chin, bobbing it up and down. "Because CLEARLY you don't need my help!" Lin put herself between Korra and Raiko, and shoved them apart.

"This conference is over," she told the press. Raiko stomped back to his office, and Lin shot Korra a dirty look. When everyone left, Lin pulled Ally inside city hall and put her hands on her hips.

"What?" Ally grumbled.

"What do you think?" Lin snapped back. "You back talked the PRESIDENT at a press conference."

"I didn't say anything that wasn't true," Ally replied hotly. "He's a sexist jerk, and he leaves all the dirty work to me and Korra, then takes credit for everything."

"I know, kid," Lin pinched the bridge of her nose. "I agree with you, but when you're around him, you need to be civil. Ok? When you get home, you can rant all you want to me."
