Mae's POV

9 weeks. It's been 9 weeks without Nick. 9 weeks of sleeping by myself. 9 weeks of him touring all across the country.

I went back to Texas for the first few weeks with my mom. We sold dad's house. God, that sounds weird. I miss him. Mom bought a house here in LA and I've been living with her. It took us some time to gain trust and respect again, but now I love her and would do anything for her.

Nick was supposed to be back in 2 days along with the rest of the boys. To tell the truth, I was a little apprehensive to see him again. For the first half of his tour we had texted, facetimed, and called whenever we could. But in the past few weeks, the communication between has fallen apart. The last time I talked to Nick was 3 days ago. My heart hurt at the distance he was putting between us. And I understand that he is busy touring and doing interviews, but I'm his girlfriend.

"Mae? Are you even listening to me?" Maggie waved her hand in front of my face and let out a giggle.

I snapped back to reality, "Oh, no, sorry. Say it again."

"I asked if you were excited to see Nick tomorrow? I can't wait to see Brandon." Maggie was practically glowing as she mentioned her loving boyfriend, but I couldn't help the dread that washed over me when she mentioned my boyfriend.

Of course Maggie noticed my uncomfortable expression, "What's the face for, Mae?"

I shrugged before sighing, "nick and I kinda lost touch with each other these last few weeks."

Maggie raised an eyebrow, "that doesn't sound like Nick."

"I know, that's what worries me."

I was staring up at my ceiling when a loud bang sounded and I heard my name being called.

"Sorry about the door Ms Adams. I'll fix it later. Mae?! Get down here now!" Maggie's voice screeched out and I found myself fumbling down the stairs.

"Goodness gracious, Maggie, are you trying to scare the neighbors?" I let out a light laugh but my laughter died down immediately when her face stayed serious. She threw her phone towards me and I glanced down at the screen, immediately regretting my decision.

On Maggie's phone screen was a selfie Brandon had sent her, but if you looked closely in the background you could see Nick hugging another girl. I felt vile rise in the back of my throat and hot tears pricked my eyes. Turning Maggie's phone off I handed it back to her and made my way upstairs. I locked myself in my bedroom and let it all out.

How could he?

The boys were back from tour. All of them had been to see me, all except one. My backstabbing boyfriend.

I hadn't come out of my room since the incident yesterday, and I didn't really plan on it anytime soon. A sudden knock on the door made me furrow my eyebrows, my mom wasn't home, it was just me home.

Slowly, I made my way over to open it to reveal a smiling Nick. I felt my heart drop to the bottom of my stomach and looked down to the floor. How was I supposed to confront him?

"Hey baby!" Nick moved closer to embrace me, but I took a hesitant step back. He frowned at me.

I sighed before deciding to just go for it at this point. I had nothing to lose; "Why haven't you been responding to my calls? Or texting me goodnight every night? Oh, and why did I see a picture of you with another girl?"

"Baby i-" I held up a hand stopping him In his sentence, "I don't wanna hear excuses. I trusted you, Nick! I gave up everything for you! To be with you! And this is how you repay me?"

I wasn't mad, I was hurt. Why did every guy I date have to cheat on me? Was I not good enough? Was there something wrong with me?

"Mae, please let me explain."

When I didn't respond, he decided to continue, "Baby, I've been so busy these past couple weeks and I've wanted to call and Facetime but I just ended up being so bone tired at the end of the day. Not to mention time zone differences."

I scoffed, "Brandon wasn't too tired or busy to keep communication with Maggie."

I watched as Nick slowly took his bottom lip in between his teeth, something he did when he was nervous, "I've been planning something. And this isn't how I wanted this to happen but I guess it's now or never."

I raised an eyebrow at him, "Mae, I wanted to ask you to move in with me. I found a house for the two of us right here in LA. I even asked your mom if it would be alright and she was beyond happy for us. I've been busy finishing up the deal and making sure the house was perfect for you. I'm sorry, I should've just told you." Nick glanced down at the ground and suddenly I felt like a bitch.

"But what about that girl in the picture I saw you with?"

Nick chuckled, "That was my cousin, Allie. She came to our last show."

Now I really felt like a bitch. I felt fresh tears sting my eyes before being pulled into Nick's warm chest. His arms wrapped around me and I knew in that moment that this man was the one that I would spend the rest of my life loving.

"Of course I'll move in with you, Nick." I smiled up at him before he connected his lips to mine in a passionate kiss. Everything felt so right in that moment.

I pulled away breathless, "I'm sorry for accusing you of  cheating."

Nick placed his hand delicately under my chin and looked into my eyes, "Oh, baby. I've only got one shot to be with you. Why would I ever do anything to jeopardize that?"
