Mae's POV
I sat on the kitchen counter trying to catch my breath. Nick's head was resting on my shoulder as he stood between my legs.
Little tufts of smoke were coming from the stove, "I think the pancakes are burnt, Nick." I giggled softly as he lazily looked up and gave me a smile.
"Let's be honest, Mae, you weren't going to eat them anyway. My pancakes never turn out right." He wiped away a fake tear and I laughed at his playfulness.
"Let's just go somewhere for breakfast mamas." He placed his hands on my sides and lifted me down off of the counter. I took one step and whimpered as my legs turned to jello. This did not go unnoticed by Nick.
He chuckled, "did I go too hard for you?" He teased me as I swatted at his chest.
"Keep it up, Mara, and you won't be going anytime soon." I made sure to put extra emphasis on the word going so Nick would know what I meant. He gave me a warm smile before scooping me up and bringing me upstairs.
"No offense babe but you need to freshen up before we go anywhere." This earned him another smack to the chest. Nick let out another laugh and my insides fluttered.
God, I love this man.
30 minutes had gone by and I was currently running my hands through my damp hair. I didn't want to keep Nick waiting any longer so I decided to do a quick French braid and be done with it. I only had mascara on and dabbed a little chapstick on as well.
I walked downstairs to see Nick on his phone. I cleared my throat and he looked up.
"Why do you feel the need to look absolutely beautiful all the time?" He offered me his hand which I took and he twirled me around once.
Shaking his head back and forth he said, "Damn, every guy is going to want this."
I grabbed the keys off of the counter, "Well it's a good thing I only got eyes for one man."
Nick lightly smacked my ass as I walked in front of him and I surpressed a giggle. Biting my lip I took his hand in mine as we made our way to the car.

"I'll just take an iced caramel coffee with that please ma'am." The waitress nodded her head as she scribbled down the last of our order and walked away. I looked over to see Nick smiling at me."What?"
He shook his head, "nothing nothing I just can't believe your mine."
I was about to say something back when I saw someone enter the cafe and my body tensed, "you've got to be kidding me."
"Hello, Mae, Nick," he nodded his head to both of us, "fancy seeing you here." He had a girl wrapped pulled closely to his waist.
"You remember Emily back from high school don't you, Mae?" I glared up at him but faked a smile towards Emily.
"Of course I do. She only bullied me all 4 years of high school." I said through my teeth.
She laughed lightly, "I hope we can put that behind us now, Mae. It's been, what, 3 years now."
I scowled at the two of them but softened immediately when I felt Nick lay his hand on top of mine. I looked to him and he gave me a reassuring smile.
"Well, we don't mean to keep you. I'm sure we'll see you around. Enjoy your morning." And with that Tommy and Emily walked to a table facing us and sat down. Emily had her back to us but Tommy faced us. He gave me a cruel smirk and I shifted in my seat uncomfortably.
"Just focus on me mamas. Ignore him." Nick was rubbing circles on my hand with his thumb.
I sighed, "I'm sorry. You're right. I've just been seeing him a lot lately."
"You mean the club and just now?" Nick wondered.
I nodded.
He asked me, "do you remember anything else about last night?"
I thought for a minute. The only thing that really stood out to me was running into Tommy and telling Nick that I loved him. He had been asleep though.
I shook my head no, "not really."
Nick nodded, "well last night when you were sleeping I told you that I-"
Nick was cut short as the waitress brought us our food and set everything down on the table. I could see Nick bite the inside of his cheek. We thanked the waitress and I took a sip of my iced coffee.
"What is it that you were going to say?" I was genuinely curious.
"Nevermind. It can wait. Let's just eat." Nick picked up his fork and I shook my head. What could he have to tell me?
