Lena's POV

"I'm scared, Lena, so scared," Kara said quietly and looked at me while I still held her in my embrace. I had never seen her like this. I had never seen her so vulnerable.

"It's okay. I won't leave you." I told her, tucking a piece of hair behind her ear.

She gulped, nodded, and took a step back to regain her composure.

Kara went and sat down on the couch. I took my jacket off and sat my purse down. After I grabbed a couple of cups from the cabinet, I put a kettle on for some tea. Tea always calms me down, so I figured 'why not?' This is an important day for Kara, and she needs to not be a bundle of nerves.

"Hey, Kara, where are your teabags?" I asked while searching through her cabinets.

"Are you making tea?" she asked than answered the question herself. "Well, obviously you are making tea, duh. The kettle is on and you are asking where the tea bags are. I wonder if Rosalind likes tea?"

I just simply nodded, "I'm not quite sure about that, but I am positive that you will figure out."

She stood from the couch and smiled. It was the same old Kara smile that I love... She went for the cabinet that I hadn't yet looked in and then pulled out a box of teabags. "Here you go."

"Thank you, Kara."

After the tea was done, I grabbed the cups, filled them up, then joined Kara on the couch. We sat there and talked while we waited for Rosalind to arrive. Kara had told me very little about her, so I was excited to meet her for myself. After all, I had to leave when Kara met her for the first time.

Kara was just saying that she wondered when she was going to get here. It was already past time for her to show up when there was suddenly a knock at the door.

We both froze and looked at each other. Then at once, we both stood up. "Hey," I grabbed her hand as she went to walk to the door, she turned around and looked at my hand in hers. "You got this, Kara, I will be right here with you the whole time."

In return I just got a smile and a slightly less nervous look from her.

She let go of my hand and then gulped, reaching for the door knob. She took a deep breath and opened the door.

Waiting on the other side was a young girl and a lady that I assume is the social worker. The girl had curly locks of brown hair that was almost black. She had dazzling bright green eyes and wore a pair of glasses. At her side she held a small black suitcase. Along with that was a black backpack on her back held by one strap slung over her shoulder.

I was just out of the way of the doorway and to the side. All of the attention was focused on Kara and the new arrival.

Kara let them come in and I made myself scarce as she seemed alright now that Rosalind had actually arrived. I went to wash the cups as Kara talked to the lady. I listened to them.

"Thank you for all of your kind help, Mrs. Alverez. I promise that Rosalind will be in good hands here. I'll take care of her just like my foster mother did with me." Kara said to her. Possibly over-sharing but at the same time provided just the right amount of assurance and information. Atta girl!

"I hope that you hold up to your word, this one is special." The lady, I am assuming is Mrs. Alverez, said and gave Rosalind a hug. "Will you be alright, dear?"

"Yes, ma'am." The first time I heard her speak. Her voice was gentle with the slightest hint of calm fear to it. "I'll see you next week for the check in."
