Shayne sighed in relief as the school bell was set off, signalling it was time for his lunch break. Finally he was free from the cruel torment of teenagers and was allowed a much needed thirty minute break.

"Alright class..." he yelled out as the hustle and bustle of students packing up their supplies grew in volume as their desperation for bland cafeteria food grew in intensity. "Homework is on the board, It's just one chapter so I'd hope to see it done by the due date, and I will be making sure you all read it!"

He doubted anyone had heard him, or would have cared if they did, keeping control over a class was never his strong suit, but damn it if he didn't know the material. It wasn't even allot. He knew what it was like to be a teenager, so he figured just one chapter of catcher in the rye for them to finish over the weekend would be more than doable.

Once everyone finally left, he reached into his bag, pulling out a packed lunch, and rushing down the many hallways of Smosh high school, speeding as fast as he could while still walking towards a certain janitor's closet at the opposite corner of the school. He rushed past the staff room, with their fancy toasters and free la Croix, money that should have gone into the teachers wages in Shayne's opinion. He wasn't such a big fan of the other teachers anyway. They say that teenagers are cruel to one-another, but Shayne soon realised it was really just applying to all high school dwellers, except now he was being picked on for teaching English, which was "Not a real subject" according to the other teachers. But now he was headed to spend his lunch with the one person who he felt actually took him seriously.

He reached the janitors closet, taking a final look around to make sure no students or staff members were lurking in the corridors. the surrounding area was in fact, barren, so Shayne reached out for the thick wooden door that stood in front of him and knocked. Four knocks, pause, three knocks, pause, two knocks, pause.

He heard some distinct movement from inside the closet, and then the sound of a deadbolt being slid out of place. He reached for the door handle and finally entered.

Sat on a large box of cleaning supplies, eating a turkey sandwich in her navy overalls, was the school janitor, and Shayne's best friend, Courtney miller.

"S'up dummy?" She said. Shayne chuckled at her comment, shutting the door and sitting next to her on the box.
"You made yourself turkey sandwiches again?" He asked.
"You know what they say Shayney boy, if you like turkey sandwiches then don't make yourself a different kind of sandwich!"
Shayne laughed loudly at her ridiculous and quick witted humour.
"I believe you meant to say 'Don't fix what isn't broken'"
"Alright mister English teacher who get's off on correcting people's jokes, don't get too horny now!"

Shayne adored how even on the worst of days, Courtney's humour could turn it all around for the better. He let out one of his high pitched laughs that Courtney had grown fond of over the months that he had been teaching, and soon they feel into a comfortable silence. As Courtney continued chewing on her turkey sandwich, Shayne reminisced about their first interaction, and how their strange friendship ended up coming to be.

It was a Monday, and Shayne's first day as a teacher. Saying he was nervous would have been a severe understatement, and his nerves weren't helped by the examples of behaviour the acne ridden, hormone driven creatures were showing, as well as the brainless blobs this school counted as teachers. He looked around as he first walked in the door, his eyes immediately falling upon a beautiful woman stood beside a cart of cleaning supplies, who he would soon find out to be Courtney. The school day hadn't officially started yet, so she stood snacking upon a turkey sandwich, that Shayne guessed was a late breakfast, and for some reason it was the most perfect scene he had ever saw. He was so transfixed that he almost didn't notice a student who's demeanour screamed jock, and who's ego was definitely the biggest thing about him, speed walking towards the janitor.
