It was Christian Eriksen's first training as an Inter player. New team, new city, new language, new coach and, more importantly, new teammates.

He always liked Milano, and he had the pleasure to play against one of Conte's (his new coach) teams back in Premier League;so these things didn't really bother him much.
What was making his breathing a little laboured and his palms sweaty was the idea of having to fit in a new team without even knowing the language.
Of course most (if not all) the players knew english, but he was the new one. He never was able to make firends easily, he was too shy and quiet. Imagine how bad he could do in a situation like this.
With these thoughts in his head, he entered the Suning Center to finally meet the team, the staff and his new coach.

IN THE CENTER

Brozo and other players weren't too thrilled about the Dane's arrival, knowing his value and his character.
Other players like Young, Sanchez and Lukaku were really excited because they came from the Premier League too, so they already knew him and they knew they could help him to fit in.
The other players were courious in a good way, having heard lots of things about Eriksen's skills (most of them good).

Christian enters the room where his teammates are seated and barely lifts his gaze off of the floor.
He looks up and meets different sets of eyes: the first is a known one, it's Lukaku's, whom he's already met.
Lukaku smiles at him and Chris shyly smiles back.
The second is cold and almost scary, and it belongs to Brozovic, the current playmaker and best midfielder of the team. He also kind of is one of the most loved players by the fans.
Chris quickly lowers his gaze again and doesn't look up until some time later, when his attention is caught by a group of loud and happy people, and he recognizes them as the "Italian ones", or the ones that have played in Italy long enough to have taken the spirit of this country.
There is Ranocchia, Bastoni, Handanovic, Skriniar, Candreva, Barella, Sensi and D'Ambrosio.
As expected, they are the kindest and they immediately ask Chris to join them.
Bastoni is doing the talking with Handanovic, seeing they are the ones with the better english.
The others make an effort too, trying to make Chris a little bit more comfortable. They can all see how tense and anxious he is.
Chris discovers that D'Ambrosio is a touchy one, he met him ten minutes ago and he's already clapped his shoulder twice while laughing.
To be honest, Chris doesn't really mind. At Tottenham (his previous team) he was basically everyone's baby, they all cuddled him and made sure he was okay.
He just inspired that in people, with his baby blue eyes and his shyness.

Finally Conte arrives and, after a brief introduction, they all go to the changing rooms and then to the field.
Chris sees how Brozo and some other players look at him, but he tries not to think too much about it and focuses on the two players who are talking to him.
One is Esposito, a young Italian promise who is apparently a fan of his. He likes this boy, he's calm and happy.
The other one is De Vrj, a player he met in the Netherlands when he was playing in Ajax. He likes him too.

Chris is really nervous, but when he lands his first step on the field, he gains confidence and starts doing his very best in the first exercises.

The problems start once they play a little match against each other.
He is in Brozo's team, which, right now, doesn't really seem like a good thing.

He passes the ball to Esposito, making him score a goal and goes to celebrate with him.
Brozo comes too, and slaps everybody's shoulder, and Chris has the impression that the slap he receives is stronger than the others.
He shrughs it off and keeps playing.

At some point he passes the ball to Brozo, reading his movement. Brozo changes his movement and makes it look like Chris screwed up.
The ball is out and Brozo runs towards Chris; he reaches him and whispers in his ear. To all the other players it looked like Brozo was giving the new guy some advice, but in fact it was this:
"Hey Blondie, a pass isn't that difficult. Didn't they teach you in England? You'll never last here. Useless"
He then runs away like nothing happened with a not-so-subtle shove.

Chris doesn't know how to react, he wasn't really expecting to be welcomed as one of them right away, but he sure as hell wasn't expecting something like this.

Handanovic, good captain that he is, sees that something might be wrong with Chris and checks on him to see if he's okay.
Chris is touched and doesn't want to burden his new teammates, so he gives the goalkeeper a thumbs-up and goes to recover the ball.

Meanwhile D'Ambrosio and Skriniar look at the scene from their positions, not being quite sure that Chris is all right.
Knowing Brozo and seeing how Chris reacted, they meet each other's gaze and instantly agree to keep an eye on the Dane.

They wouldn't admit it to anyone, but they already started to like Chris and felt a need to protect him.

He needs some friends, and they are determined to show him that he's not alone.
