Chris feels excited. He is shotgun in a car with D'Ambrosio as a driver and Skriniar and De Vrij in the back seat.
He doesn't know where they're going, he just knows that they will be out all day in Milan.
He can't help but feel grateful for his friends, trying to make him feel better after the night he had.
The car stops in a part of Milan that he has never seen
"Can you tell me noooow?"
He says in a childish tone, D'Ambrosio looking at him, glad to see the sadness slowly disappear from the blue eyes
"Noooope, once we're inside"
Chris pouts as he exits the car, Handa and the others joining the four of them.
If Chris knew a little more italian, he could have easily read were they are. He just sees this beautiful building inside of a big park, full of grass and paths to walk.
"Ready?" Handanovic asks to the dane, who's trying really hard not to think about last night
"Can't wait"
It's about 11am when they reach the door, and D'Ambrosio asks Chris to close his eyes.
Barella and Bastoni guide him, while he hears D'Ambrosio talk with a woman in Italian. Some kind of staff member or something maybe?
He finds himself in the dark, sat on a chair that looks like the ones in cinemas; D'Ambrosio is on his left, looking at the ceiling, the others on his right
He looks up and instantly knows where they are.
Observatory.
His teammates brought him "in space" to see the stars.
The blond looks at D'Ambrosio, almost tearing up
"I-i don't know what to say. I could never thank you enough. I don't deserve this"
The answer comes from De Vrij
"You do. And besides, we all want to be here for you. So stop worrying and enjoy the show Chris,we've never seen it but it sounds awesome!" says the defender in a gentle and light tone, not wanting to bring up unresolved and heavy questions.
The show is amazing, everybody is mesmerized by the succession of stars and galaxies, by the infinite colors and facts about them.
Chris, even if for a little more than an hour, forgets about his problems and focuses on the show, occasionally talking and occasionally touching D'Ambrosio, to show the gratitude he knows he can't say with words.
D'Ambrosio sees Chris, happy and curious as a kid. He wants him to feel like that on the field, happy to play without worries constantly restraining him.
After the show they spend some time in the Science Museum, next door to the Observatory, upon Barella and Bastoni's request.
They really wanted to see that dinosaur skeleton.
They even manage to have a walk in the park, the weather being on their side.
At the end of the day, they all go back to their homes. Everybody is tired but content; they succeded and had a lovely day.
What could they ask for more?
D'Ambrosio, despite Chris' presence, managed to quietly do something behind his back.
Basically, in less then two weeks the blond will be 28; on the 14th of February.
So when the defender saw that thing in the observatory shop, he couldn't help but ask the kind lady if she could keep one of those things for him until tomorrow, when he'll be able to take it home.
He can't wait for the dane to see it.
Chris is in bed, finally feeling almost ok for the firsr time since last night's match.
The constant reminder of his friendships are what will keep him going. He's gonna work hard for them and for himself.
Especially now that their next match is the Derby against Milan.
