"are you okay jakey?" brooklyn asked as she sat on the bed next to jake.

"i'm more than okay," he smiled.

"well in that case .." brooklyn paused at her words and began hitting jake's arm.

"hey woah woah what is this for munchkin?"

brooklyn furrowed her eyebrows and folded her arms, "you made your pretty friend cry. you're so mean."

mrs. shim and mr. lee laughed at brooklyn's words, while jake looked at an embarrassed ava with a teasing look.

"ava was crying?" jake asked brooklyn.

"that's what i said," she replied with sass.

"well okay then sassy baby," jake chuckled.

"my friend is pretty isn't she?" jake asked.

everyone was shocked at jake's words and it became astronomically quiet, but the tension soon broke when mr. lee cleared his throat.

"g-girls, do you want ice cream? let's go get ice cream," mr. lee awkwardly smiled as the girls cheered and walked out of the room.

"i'll go with them too because uh .. i'll just go," mrs. shim rushed.

ava's eyes followed mrs. shim as she walked out of the room.

"jake really?" ava laughed, turning around to arms being wrapped around her.

once again, the world froze as ava was in jake's embrace. he stroked ava's long hair as he held ava in his arms.

"i'm sorry for making you worry about me," jake mumbled, placing his chin on the top of ava's head.

"as you should," ava replied, making jake let out a chuckle.

with ava's right cheek pressed against jake's chest, she let out a smile after hearing jake's pure, free chuckle.

she closed her eyes in the silence and allowed all her emotions to slip away as all her focus was put into the beating of jake's heart.

the more jake interacted with ava, the more she came to a realization that there was always and will always be a special place for jake in her heart.

the two felt love and they lived with love every single day, but was it love for each other?
