jake and ava pulled apart as they heard commotion going on in the room to see a group of fairly handsome boys.

"girl. there is a girl in the room," one of the boys pointed out, making ava chuckle.

"this is ava," jake introduced, "ava, this is k, heeseung, sunghoon, and daniel. these are some of the boys i train with."

ava smiled at each boy as they waved and/or smiled at her as well.

"i assume that you'd want to catch up with them so i'll just-"

jake cut ava off by shaking his head, "stay."

ava saw how the four boys began teasing jake and chuckled, "alright."

ava sat on the hospital bed, jake doing the same, as the other boys sat on the chairs in the room.

"so how do you two know each other?" daniel asked, starting a conversation.

"uh we were .. close in high school," ava replied.

"and off topic, but ava is actually a dancer," jake began, "she was in a broadway production in new york city."

all the boys faces turned into shocked expressions as heeseung asked, "wait .. then are you ava lee?"

"ah yes," ava smiled.

"my mom would always watch you on television whenever you performed. she is a big fan."

ava shyly chuckled, "well i'm very honored that your mom supports me. tell her i said hi and thank you for me?"

heeseung nodded, "jake, i like ava."

"right! she's very friendly," sunghoon added.

before anyone could speak further, the door to the room opened, revealing mrs. shim, mr. lee, and the two girls.

"jakeyyy," brooklyn yelled, running over to jake with her ice cream cone.

"hey munchkin," jake smiled, picking her up.

"who are you?" brooklyn asked curiously as she jumped down from jake's lap and walked over to k.

"you're very handsome," she smiled, "you too, and you, and you!"

everyone in the room bursted into laughter as brooklyn began playing with the four boys.

"hey kids," mrs. shim called out to jake and ava, "i'm going to head home to get some things real quick okay?"

"sure thing, but mrs. shim," ava began, "the girls are coming over to our house tonight right? i mean since you'll be staying here."

"oh- i haven't thought about that."

"the girls can always come to our place right dad?"

"that's right seoyeon," mr. lee replied, "we'll take them in for the night."

"well okay then," mrs. shim smiled, "thank you. i'll go get their things then."

"and i'll head home first to cook dinner okay hun? i'll come pick you up before visiting hours are over," mr. lee told ava, receiving a nod.

the two parents left the room, leaving rosie, brooklyn, and ava with the five boys.

rosie sat on the edge of the bed as she watched television, while eating her ice cream and brooklyn was playing with the rings on sunghoon's hand.

"jake, are you hungry?" ava asked.

"no i'm no-"

"don't tell me no," ava said sternly, making jake smile, "you're eating and i'm sorry to say it, but you're eating hospital food. i'm going to go get it for you."

"you don't have to. it's okay, really."

"no it's not. jake you need to eat. i don't want to see you back in the hospital because you haven't been eating enough."

"well then i'm going with you," jake stated, standing up.

"or you could like .. stay here .. with your friends .. that came to visit you .."

"it's okay," k spoke up, "go with her. we'll stay with the kids."

ava gasped at k's words, "i thought we were becoming friends. you're supposed to be on my side."

"go with the lady, jake," k winked.

"and we are friends ava," k replied, acting dramatically hurt, "but it's always bros before-"

"don't finish it," ava sighed, also dramatically, making k laugh.

"c'mon pretty boy, let's go get your food," ava told jake, but quickly realizing what she called jake, she said, "jake. i meant jake. c'mon jake, let's go get your food."

jake chuckled and followed ava out of the room, walking by her side.

"the boys seem to like you," jake smiled.

"who wouldn't?" ava said confidently, "i'd even say they like me more than you."

jake playfully, but dramatically gasped, "i wouldn't get too ahead of myself."

ava scoffed and mocked jake in a playful voice, followed by the two falling into heaps of laughter.

"you know .. i- actually really miss this," ava said quietly.

jake looked down at her and smiled, "i do too."

"it was the hug. the hug made me say that," ava replied jokingly.

"yea it was definitely my hug. my hugs are the best, aren't they?"

"mhm .. definitely. i definitely missed them in new york," ava said honestly, "and i really missed you too.."

jake didn't verbally reply and only let out a sigh, leaving the two to walk in silence.

"our plans really didn't work out the way we hoped for, did they?" jake asked softly.

"running away to new york together?.." ava began, "not. at. all."
